Congratulations, Leslie!

I'm at 21 weeks with my first child. I had horrible morning sickness, or, more accurately, morning, noon, and night sickness, until about 16 weeks. I lived on Diet 7up and Wheat Thins. Since the 16 week mark, I've been sick about once a week, so it has gotten better. I can finally walk into the kitchen without feeling the need to vomit.

I've progressed to back pain, and today had a very sad realization that I no longer have ankles. I called my mom in hysterics, and not only did she laugh, she told everyone in her office, too. Oh, well. I may have over-reacted a bit.

My advice is to enjoy your pregnancy as much as you can. I can't believe we're half-way there. Oh, and if you feel the need to read every book on the market, take things with a grain of salt. When my husband realized I had memorized the "What Could Go Wrong" chapter in What to Expect When You're Expecting, he took the book away from me.

I'm not and have not been pregnant, but I get nauseous pretty much all the time. One thing that has worked for me is this stuff called Emetrol. It's sold near the tums type stuff in the drug store, it has a rainbow on it with a white box. Idk how it works, but it does.
hope that helps?
congratulations and good luck with everything

you didn't overreact...poor baby! those mean non-pregnant people just do not understand! cankles are a preggo's worst nightmare! you look 65 from the knees down!

one word of advice for anyone pregnant or planning on ever being pregnant...if you are hurting/uncomfortable, tell someone and dont let up.

i was in a car accident two years ago, and thought that my back pain now was just flaring up a bit from it. as i mentioned earlier in the thread, the car accident was the cause for another condition i have...i'm on codeine for pain at night (doesnt help though ) and had i not bugged the living hell out of my Dr. he would have assumed like i did that it was "normal" pregnancy back pain. turns out, i may end up out of work and in a wheelchair the last month or so if it doesnt get any better...

i think that is why kids are so precious and such a blessing when they get here...if not, we'd have one and look at it like "huh, all that for this??" lol!

I am a Tums popper as well, but I figure that at least I am getting some extra calcium.

Oh, and the best baby gift I recieved was a prenatal massage. I am a stomach sleeper, so being stuck on my sides while preganant is killing me. But when you have a prenatal massage, the table has a belly-hole in it, and you get to lie on your stomach. that alone was wonderful!

Kinda along this line, anyone who is pregnant should swim as much as possible during the last trimester. It's amazing how much better your back will feel when you've been in the water - weightlessness is a pregnant woman's (or at least, THIS pregnant woman's) dream! So, find a pool, lake, ocean, etc., and get comfortable again!

When I was pregnant, I read in a book (wish I remembered which one!) that those holes weren't good for you. I had a few massages during my pregnancy, and I lay on my side for the entire time. Of course, they didn't help my back pain one bit, but they were certainly fun!
