Trust me, I can easily see people in some of the bassackwards towns in my state walking up to a black man and saying "what up n***a!" after seeing it on TV and having no clue they did anything wrong, because they have absolutely never had any face to face contact with a black person in their lives.

And as I said to him and am now saying to you in response to THE QUESTION: this is not the situation we are dealing with here so what is the point of even bringing that crazy and rather impractical situation up? You said that the towns in your state are ass backwards which would indicate that something like that happening would not be normal or common with relation to other towns in your and other states that are not ass backwards. The situation here is very specific. I'm referring to what Michael Richards said, not some nameless, faceless, person who woulda coulda said something in an arbitrary scenario.

Re what - I'm saying that just because macallan has said some things that apparently make you think he doesn't have a high opinion of blacks, concentrate on what's being asked, not who's asking it. For instance, if greeklawgirl or KSigRC asked it, would you respond the same way? I don't know how to make that clearer.

And he was asking a hypothetical inspired by the situation, you are dealing with the Michael Richards situation only. 2 different things. As for why he brought it up, that's a question to him, not me.

This clarifcation was clear enough. You're first post was not. In response to this one, I will repond to him the way I see fit, thank you very much.

And if its two different things, which was my point exactly, why would you feel the need to opine and attempt to clarify HIS point? You obviously saw some correlation between the Richards comments and his hypo. Furthermore, it IS a question for you since you jumped in on the exchange between him and myself and felt the need to go forward and offer your own anectdote presenting a similar hypothetical situation. Therefore, I questioned you as well as him.

No, I did not. You are putting words in my mouth (or rather, thoughts in my brain).

I responded to a hypothetical with a real life situation. I've done the same in other threads, to things that may or may not have had anything to do with the topic of the thread.

The hypothetical and my anecdote arose as a tangent from the original premise of the thread, but don't necessarily have anything to do with how one feels about the original subject of the thread. I could have just as easily told a story about going to a comedy club and heckling someone.
