So are you saying telling a comedian he isn't funny is as equally harmful to saying thye should be lynched?

What I find interesting is there are some on here that want to believe there was some out of the ordinary cause for what he said, like he had a breakdown, he's mentally ill, etc. Maybe just maybe that's how he really feels. Maybe he just doesn't like blacks. There are thousands if not millions of whites that don't like blacks and why is it so impossible he's part of that number? Is it because he played a character on tv we all loved? Because he's a celebrity and we hold them to a different standard. Or is it because you can't face that racism or prejudice still exist in this country?

i wish he hadn't apologized, because it was meritless. I would rather he said yeah I said it and I'm not a fan of blacks. blacks wouldn't be surprised, we encounter this all the time and we go on with our day.

Even though I am black and offended, I am still wondering where he comments came from. He does feel some hate towards black or at the very least- doesn't think much of them to begin with. This was just the platform that he true feelings came out. Whatever the case, he does have some problems and should get help.

I agree, racist or not, people usually don't go off like that.

No of course not. I am just saying that he was not prepared to handle ridicule. So he fought back. I am definitely not condoning how he reacted. I was very offended and taken aback. He needs help.

How is a grown azz man that has faced rejection in the industry he works, not prepared for ridicule? Rejection comes with the entertainment field.

Hahah, Ok.....some of you are ridiculous. I don't care if some of you have never used the word and blah blah blah, my comments weren't aimed at you personally, rather on a grand scheme of things. The fact is........the use of the word n***** is perpetuated by blacks far too often. Turn on the TV for God's sake, listen to rap, walk down the street. I probobly here "what up nigga" more during the day than I do anything else.....and it isn't coming from a bunch of white guys.

....on a side note, I just listened to his apology, and I thought he sounded extremely sincere and apologetic. He was visibly shaken up. He obvioulsy didn't appreciate the audience laughing at him one bit during his apology. I think he did it on Letterman because Seinfeld was on there and because he knew a bunch of people would be watching the show. Whoever said he shouldn't have apologized, that is rather idiotic.

So when I grew up in NC and heard white people calling lower income white people white trash, than this is ok to use and say? I hear the term White Trash or PWT so much on tv and inthe media, it doesn't make it right to either.

When did I ever say anything about something being ok to say? Don't think I did. Thanks.

......please don't sit here and try to tell me that words like "white trash" are used on the same level as the other. That is ridiculous. I don't know what TV you watch....but I can't remember when I heard the term "white trash" being used regularly in the media or outside of it.

And we know you are the measure for all that happens and exist. Your experiences don't dictate all of americas. You claim to hear the N-word on a daily basis and say most blacks use the term, when you have heard several blacks on here say we don't, but are quick to discount our exeperience. I grew up hearing White trash and PWT all of the time and matter of fact just heard on TV the other night if not last night. The term was used to demean a group of people such as the n-word. Heck I've heard whites say being PWT is the same as being a n-word.

I am not claiming anything....stop putting fucking words in my mouth. I never discounted anyone's "experience." That is why I said, more than once, that I was referring to the use of the word on a much wider scale, not so much at the personal level. I am glad that the 4 or 5 people who said they don't use that word spoke up.....thats great. I'm happy for yall.

I am white......and I don't think it is as bad as calling a black man a n***** at all, period.

Are you getting frazzeld with the cursing?
And just because you don't thinks its as bad as the n-word there are some whites that think it is just as bad.

Oh, but I could have SWORN you pointed out that the black man in the audience used the word cracker and you thought that was just as bad:

Um, let's see "Pretty bad.....bud it wasn't any better for the guys to call him a "cracker ass mother fucking white boy."

Ahh, yes, you DID say that. So now what are you saying? Changing your perspective to fit the argument, ey?

And I guess perhaps YOU need to turn on the tv and watch something other then BET to get yourself all rowled up and mad at black people and watch some of the other media because white trash and poor white trash is thrown around quite often by white toward other whites and if you think otherwise, again, you are not nearly as exposed as necessary to credible if you are going to participate in discussions like this.

Even if you could explain away or justify his use of the n-word, there is no excuse or justification for the reference to lynching.

Good point. That's the whole point about this thing, is that it started out with the racial comment about 50 years ago lynching. Period. that is racist itself... regardless of the n-word
