The Glock’s stopping power isn’t as immediate as a shotgun, especially if you’re using slugs. One shot with a slug, and game over. A new wall would be needed, too. Plus, a shotgun has a more psychological advantage over the Glock. An intruder hears that “racking” sound from a shotgun and they’re running. I’d rather protect my home with a shotgun over a Glock any day.

It's funny but the same reasons you prefer the shotgun is why I would prefer a Glock or another 9mm equivalent pistol. I would be very concerned about overpenetration and other damage.
Ultimately you should use what you feel most comfortable with and what will make you successful in your goal of protecting your house/family
