Personally I see it as a horrible perversion of the original spirit of Sharia Law... but meh.
Yeah the world would be a better place if some of these "law makers" where subject to the sentences and injustices they met out - then shit like these rape laws, capital punishment, Gitmo, race laws, or rendition might not be so flippantly accepted... and yes I view these as equally "barbaric" and egregious, but I also understand that they'll continue until such time as the ignorant folks/"animals" that support them finally take their heads out of their ass. (and yes I'm looking specifically the head "asshole" of the moment being the Canadian PM for now supporting #'s 2,3,and5)
