Common sense says don't go upstairs with a stranger at a party alone, don't walk down a dark alley at night alone, don't accept a drink from a stranger unless you watched them make it, don't leave your drink unattended...those things NEED to be accepted as safety measures instead of "blaming the victim". We all know perfectly well that if a woman does do any of those things and is sexually assaulted, it's still the fault of the perpetrator.

And I for one do think men and women are, generally speaking, different. Yes, some of it is because of the socially acceptable gender stereotypes, but some of it, IMO, isn't. That doesn't mean those differences equate to "men can't control themselves sexually" and "women are helpless". Most of my friends are male, and the only people I consider "best friends" are male. I have two brothers. I don't believe any of them think that their penises are more important than a woman's right to say no. And yes, they tell me all the time how difficult it is to go out with a girl, be invited inside, and then realize she just wants to talk, not hook up. I have no trouble believing that. But do they just say "fuck it, my dick needs it NOW"? Nope. (I wouldn't associate with men that didn't think that way, for obvious reasons.)

My view is that if one person attacks another sexually or otherwise, it's the perp's fault. Full stop. But that's no reason to throw caution to the wind.

I answered dumb with dumb. She was dumb to assume that I was saying biological urges = it's OK to rape.

And if all I have to go on is Drolefille's posts on this board, then yes, she does give off the impression that she really doesn't like men. Or women. Or life. Or much of anything in particular.

You're making two arguments, one is that you have knowledge of male urges that women cannot understand and the other is that women should take responsibility because men have these urges. Both are silly.

You sound so very concerned. You and AF can get together and talk about how worried you are about the path my life has taken me on.

Well, insisting upon "boys will be boys" either implies that it's OK (there are some people who believe that) or implies that it is understandable or unpreventable. Either way, that puts the onus on women instead of the onus being where it should be, on both women and men.

Opinions of usernames aside, everyone has a topic...or two or three or four...that they feel strongly about. It is interesting because if a man was to type what Drolefille has typed, I'm pretty sure the responses to his posts would be different. That's akin to how responses to posts about race and ethnicity (or sexual orientation, politics, etc.) are different depending upon the known race and ethnicity (sexual orientation, politics, etc.) of the poster.

Don't fret. I'm eating Coldstone's Creamery and it is heaven in a bowl. That makes it all okay. And there were a lot of men there so I guess both women and men eat Coldstone's. SheBOING, BOING, BOINNNNNNNNNG......

Now can we all be friends. There are enough viewpoints for all of us to party together. Hugs to Drolefille, 33girl, sigmadiva, Alumiyum, knight_shadow, and everyone else who has posted in this thread.

Live-in has to to keep me on a short leash when we're out in public because I cannot control my urges to buy things. Also, he gives me an allowance of $15 per day all in $1 bills.

Oh, who are we kidding - I don't need an allowance, I'm only ever in the kitchen!

Your uncontrollable urges to buy things must be the only reason you buy shoes. You know you're supposed to be barefoot in case live-in feels some urges.

You sound really ungrateful. Know your role.

/I didn't request whipped cream on my Coldstone's and the fact that it hasn't melted with my ice cream is kind of scary. What the shiznit is this whipped cream made of?! Would a man even ponder this?!/

Whipped cream doesn't melt at the same temp as ice cream, so maybe it's just good whipped cream?

I'm sure a man wouldn't worry his serious big brain over such frivolity.

OH my GOSH! Do you think I if I stop buying shoes he'll propose?!?! That's all I can ever dream for!

I'll have to keep the ones I have, though, especially the sexy heels that go with the circle dress and apron. Those are his favorite. I only buy shoes that I think my man will like (helps with the urges).

Thanks. I wouldn't know because real women only eat whipped cream when it's on a crazy manpart. Roar, manpart, roar!

Had I been eating whipped cream then, it would have squirted out my nose.

And then no man would ever have urges for me
