It’s definitely not somebody who kicks shit for a living. It’s a term used for people who do hard, outdoor work, or blue collar work, and it can be people who do hard labor on a farm or ranch. It all depends on how it’s used. It can be used offensively or jokingly. It all depends. I honestly think cheerfulgreek knows what it is, and is acting like she doesn’t. Okay…. So… I first heard the word in a movie I watched when I was in high school. In the movie “Mississippi Burning”, Gene Hackman’s character called one of the people who killed the three civil rights workers a “shit-kicker”. So, as a result of that, I saw the word as being like lower than low, which is how I perceive a bigot. They are lower than low, to me. At least, growing up, that’s what my parents raised me to believe.

I referred to JD Vance as a “shit-kicker” because of the way I view the people who voted for him and the “shit-kicker” who picked him as a running mate. I have no compassion or regard for those people, whatsoever, because I know who they are and what they believe. And yes, I feel they are the lowest of the low. I mean, of course I know there isn’t like a career, kicking poop. I just saw it as like if that was a real career, it just doesn’t get any lower than that, which is how I saw those people in that movie. But I honestly didn’t know the real meaning of it.

And Zach, I’m not a snob — it’s definitely not how I view myself. I have a lot of respect for people in all kinds of jobs, especially blue-collar work, because it’s like the backbone of everything we rely on. If there’s something I said or did that made you feel this way, I’d really like to understand so I can address it.
