My prom date is the whole reason I went Greek. He was a year older than me and pledged TKE when I was a senior in high school. He took me to my prom and then I went to the same school. I hung out with him and his roommate (one of my best friends from college who also pledged TKE) all the time and was bummed out that I couldn't go to the greek nights at the bar or greek happy hours at the bar with them.

So second semester of my freshman year, I decided to rush so I could be part of all the fun. I had met friends of theirs from one of the sororities and I couldn't stand one of them so I didn't even go to their rush events. One sorority was pretty much non-existant- I think they had 5 members, so that one was out. That left two- AGD and another. I went to parties at both and the women at the other one never even spoke to me. Nobody picked me up at the door in rotations and I wandered around by myself the whole time. So I ended up pledging AGD.

He broke up with me the next fall and I met my first husband, a LXA, a few weeks later.

I'm facebook friends with the old prom date. He's the only ex boyfriend I've ever had who I would consider getting back together again. I still think he's really cute, 40 years later. I enjoy his sense of humor so much. He lives a couple hours away though. He was definitely my first love.

I never would have dreamed, when I wrote this, that just over a year later, he would be my fiance.

Congrats to you both. Wishing you peace, joy, and a relationship that brings out the best in each other day by day.

Thanks all! So, Sciencewoman wanted details... He told me about a month ago that he had been doing some window shopping for rings but felt like he had to ask me about some of my preferences. So we discussed and then he also asked me to send him some pictures of rings I would like. We are going to Mackinac Island in July and I thought he would do it then, during a Sip N Sail Sunset cruise. But, he said that once he had the ring in his possession, he couldn't wait until then. We both had kind of a rough week and he thought it would be a good pick me up for both of us. It was quiet, sitting on my couch after we got back from a birthday party on Saturday night

I just looked up the price of that car. $113,540. Damn! That’s crazy. And all this time I thought that car was more like 50 - $60,0000. I don’t get why they are that high in price. Looks like a plain Japanese car to me.

Nope. But I’ll break it in eventually.

Actually, the GT-R is priced lower than a lot of its competitors because Nissan focused on function over luxury. It doesn’t have the carbon fiber chassis or high-end interior materials you’d find in a Ferrari or Porsche, but what you do get is a hand built twin turbo V6, advanced AWD, and a transaxle layout designed for performance. Instead of charging more for the badge, Nissan invested in engineering. So you end up with a car that delivers supercar level performance at a much more accessible price.

This is why it’s priced the way it is, Phroze, yet it’s half the price of its competitors.

I see. Totally. Everything will come into place just like the two of you did because this was meant to be, Dee.

Not exactly. Human evolution takes thousands of years, and it’s driven by slow genetic changes based on environmental pressure, like climate, gravity, radiation, and available resources. I mean, landing on a new planet doesn’t trigger adaptation. Our biology is tailored for Earth’s conditions, especially like its atmosphere, gravity, and magnetic field. I mean, without protective measures, colonizing another planet could cause serious health issues, like bone density loss, radiation damage, and impaired organ function. So no, we wouldn’t just “unite with the planet”, we’d need serious technological support just to survive. Know what I mean?

I’ve been binge watching this couples therapy called “Saving our Marriage” on Netflix. Funny as hell. I’ve been cracking up the whole time I’ve been watching. As soon as I get home from work, I’m ordering a pizza and I’m going to continue my binge. With all these couples, these chicks seem to be the problem and none of the dudes have threatened to leave their marriages. But all the chicks have threatened to leave Lol! Typical. Not saying the dudes aren’t part of the problem, but the chicks seem to be the reason they’re in couples therapy in the first place.

I think you’re being biased because you’re a guy. But it sounds hilarious. I’m going to watch.

She is a pediatrician and she has gone to great lengths to get the specialized care her dogs need. Both are diabetic and have insulin pumps, and one had to have his eyes removed due to complications. They are lucky to have her, because I suspect a lot of owners would not be able to manage what she does for Ben and Lizzie.
Oh, I’m so sorry, Sciencewoman. I thought it was Pippin that was going to MSU.

Wow! Your sister sounds like an awesome, remarkable pet parent, Sciencewoman! And she’s clearly a very committed one, too. I mean, managing diabetes alone takes dedication, but adding insulin pumps and post-operative care after something as major as eye removal, that’s like serious level devotion. Tell her that Ben and Lizzie are very lucky to have her in their corner.

And honestly, you’re absolutely right, this kind of care isn’t something every owner could take on, even if they wanted to. It’s just that it speaks volumes about her knowledge, compassion, and consistency. As a vet, I always hope for owners like her, not necessarily perfect, just present, willing to learn, and truly invested in their pets lives. That’s how it should be. Unfortunately, it’s not that way for all.

Tell her from one medical professional to another that she’s doing an amazing job. And MSU is a great choice. They give like the best care and they have like an amazing collaborative team.

Thanks for sharing this, Sciencewoman.

So, when they mention a very small liver, they’re likely referring to something we call microhepatica. It just means the liver appears smaller than expected for your dog’s size and age. That can be a normal variant in some cases, but it’s also a potential sign of an underlying issue you should have your vet explore further because there are common causes of microhepatica. I mean, it’s good that they caught it, even if it turns out to be nothing serious.

So, since the urgent care team noted a very small liver, here are a few questions I’d suggest bringing up with your regular vet.

Ask your vet does she/he think the liver size is actually abnormal, or could it be due to positioning or gas on the x-ray.

Ask if they should do bloodwork to check liver enzymes and overall function.

Would a bile acids test be helpful to evaluate how well his liver is working?

Do you recommend an abdominal ultrasound to get a better view of the liver?

And then, ask is there any concern about a liver shunt or chronic liver condition based on his breed or age.

And then too, you can let them know how Pippin has been doing since then, like if there’s been any changes in his appetite, energy, or behavior can be helpful in figuring out if this is something to watch or something that needs further workup now. Know what I mean?

Please let me know what they say about Pippin.

So I tried watching that documentary on Netflix, Phrozen… it was so dumb. I swear, I made it halfway through episode two before I tapped out. I couldn’t. There was this one guy, he said he wants to “provide for his family” while staying unemployed, drunk, and yelling at his kids and being emotionally checked out. I was like, sir, you chose alcohol over employment and now you’re surprised you’re broke?

My hubby walked by and heard the guy’s wife complaining and then like with no expression, he goes “Welp lady, that’s what happens when you pick a clown to marry. You end up in therapy with him asking the therapist why does your marriage feel like a circus”, lol.
