She seems like the kind of person who's just been waiting for someone to forget to give her a receipt, so she can catch them and make them deliver on the free order promise. I think the police should have been called, specifically for her hate speech at the end.

I think it's a poor business practice to offer these kinds of "deals." Sam's Club had a deal going for a while where each register had a dollar bill on display. If the cashier forgot to call you by name, you got the dollar. One day, the clerk forgot. What a production...I was directed to the guest services desk, where the manager told me I had to fill out a complaint form against the cashier, and that this would reflect poorly on the cashier. I said, "Never mind. I just thought it was a cute, fun customer service gimmick. I don't want to get anyone in trouble over a dollar!" That deal wasn't around much longer.

Arby's had a similar promotion going for a while. If they didn't ask you for your Arby's reward card, your meal was free. They never forgot, but that deal (and the rewards card program) didn't last long either.

This. I actually really like my day job. Can I see myself doing it forever? No, but it gives me a steady income, I have great relationships with my co-workers and bosses, and it's flexible enough to allow me to seek additional employment or schooling.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that most people that go off on people that work in the service industry have either never worked in it, or did long ago and have forgotten what it is like. Breaking it down to the bare minimum, my job is about making people happy. I want to make my bosses happy so I can stay employed, I want to make my co-workers happy so we can support each other during the day. I want to make the customers happy so they will continue to patronize the business, thus also securing my employment.

I can agree here, and to comment on the other part of your Target experience. I mean, everyone you meet or have to deal with in life might not be of sound mind or character.

It's "contagious" in a sense, because someone who's ignorant (as in foolish) can make most people lose their composure, like that guy caused you to do. I'd bet dollars to donuts that people who are rude to people that work in the service industry has little to do with whether they've been in it themselves or not. It has to do with the accumulation of the many experiences they've had throughout their lives, not whether they've had experience working that kind of job or not.

How can you blame a person for being that way, when in a sense, her/his birthright promoted it? Most of it is based on that person's relationship with themselves, their family, their friends, teachers, etc...etc... All of these people make up the core that is central to how we all function and interact with the rest of the world at large. We are bits and pieces of every person we have encountered, which eventually is exposed when dealing with or connecting with others. That's what it all comes down to.
