What are you talking about? how does it being a better sorority magically make someone walk?
I'm not digging myself into any holes, I think you're just having trouble understanding. I think you should stop attacking my decision and realize you dont really know enough about my situation for you to do so.
And this is the last thing Im going to say about this I dont think we need to talk about it anymore

If one of the chapters I was really interested in invited me, it would have been worth it and I would have figured out a way to make it there and dealt with the other issues. However since it was a chapter I had very little interest in, it was not worth the trouble..

To the OP:
I don't usually post exactly what I'm thinking, especially if it is very direct.
Now I'm thinking, if I were you: I.would.stop.this.now. You are not helping youself.

thanks for the reply, that makes sense .. I guess I meant under the assumption that everyone you spoke to thought you were a good fit, would it make a difference how many people you speak to?
But yeah I get what your saying about how theres no way of knowing whether or not it was because I met so little people .. because thats what I was thinking at first =P
Assuming everyone you met thought you were a good fit... then the numbers game becomes a confidential issue. If individual sororities have rules about having to meet a certain number of sisters, that would be confidential information.

HTH!

OTW,
Yeah if it was a sorority I was going to accept a bid for I could have used crutches. If it was one that had a 1% chance of me accepting, I wouldn't have. You know why? Because its not worth it for a 1% chance. Trust me, I know alot about the chapter and am pretty sure I wouldn't be happy there. I'm not making these decisions mindlessly.

Oh, so now it's because the sorority that actually did invite you to Preference that you wouldn't have gotten into? Your logic here is absurd.

If they invited you to Preference you would have been on their bid list. And you have no idea where on the list!

I'm having trouble believing all this.

Indeed. I think the decisions made were appropriate.

This is the thing though. We all have read about a hundred Recruitment stories that didn't end well. Countless times the PNM didn't give every sorority a fair chance but can't believe that they ended up bidless. I'm sorry but it's one of my pet peeves.

We've also been asked a hundred times how the sororities choose. I have to be blunt here; it doesn't matter. If you didn't get a bid where you wanted it doesn't have anything to do with their membership selection process. It has to do with you.

I'm not saying that you're not intelligent, pretty or friendly. But there's got to be something that didn't appeal to the sororities that you wanted. I'm sorry that it didn't work out for you but you've got to turn the questioning away from how the sororities choose and back onto yourself.

If your attitude to the "less desirable" sorority was that it "wasn't worth it" to go through the effort of going to their party, what on EARTH makes you think that the "more desirable" sororities will even consider you? You essentially made a mockery of the recruitment process because it wasn't going your way. You threw a fit because you didn't get your way and are now trying to defend your actions. While I may not know for sure, I can guess that once the other organizations find out how you "blew off" the one you didn't want, you won't be very high on anyone's list anytime soon.

Instead of whining here on GC, perhaps you should 1. write a letter of apology to the sorority you ditched. 2. write a letter of apology to panhellenic and 3. stop making excuses here on GC because people who are at your school and in the "better sororities" in which you are seeking membership are reading here and making decisions based on the things you are saying.

This is not what the OP wants to hear.
