Dress my PNM - Page 2

I love the dress, but I think the shoes are a little too casual and don't really go with it. Something about wooden heels and cocktail dresses just doesn't add up to me. I'd personally go for something a little bit more formal like:

Something with a little more visual interest but not frilly. (Obviously they don't need to be expensive, I'm a firm believer in DSW and Payless, but just some ideas.)
I think it's best to either pick a color combination that doesn't line up with any of the sororities on campus or make sure you have a backup for pref. I think in some cases it can get taken the wrong way. I know personally I wouldn't discount a girl who showed up wearing blue & blue with a key necklace, but it would definitely catch my attention. But like everyone has said, it's not something you need to worry about right now. It's nice to think ahead though!

She has a list of everything she needs in the next six months and first an foremost on that list is her senior year needs. Next is college, which includes recruitment. We know what she needs and as we come across items that are appropriate and budget friendly, then we'll pick it up and mark it off.

As a mom of two girls living in rural America, I totally relate to everything you are saying here. During my daughters' senior years, we often bought dresses for a senior event that might double for college events (esp rush). People who don't live far away from a major city really don't understand this longterm thinking. Add on the fact that you might be a working mom and you really have more reason to plan ahead. Even with online shopping options, many people in small towns do it this way.

It's just that that wasn't how the question was originally presented. It's not that people don't 'get' the concept of planning ahead, it's that the OP said "Dress my pnm" not "We're thinking of getting this, could this play double duty for recruitment?"

I had the same thought. I highly doubt it. That dress is very much navy, not tri-delta blue.

^^From a DDD, it's too dark to be Delta blue. Also yellow is pretty different than gold in my mind. I'm personally a big fan of the navy/yellow combination, but it's pretty different from a gold/cerulean combination.

Because yellow looks horrible on me with my olive skin, I usually wear red shoes with navy. A pair of red patent sling backs would look really cute with that dress!

It is a cute pairing. I would only worry about colors being mistaken for her wanting to show preference to a sorority if she wears those colors EVERY DAY of recruitment.

I think most color combinations that PNM's wear during recruitment are somehow going to be a sorority's colors. I wouldn't sweat it. As a current member, when I rush girls I wouldn't think twice about a girl wearing my sorority's colors (unless it was completely obnoxious and incorporated into every aspect of the outfit.) Especially colors that generally go well together and are often worn together.

No dolphin necklace or trident earrings. She does however, have her kite earrings, necklace and bracelet to wear with her yellow shoes and black dress on pref night.
