If I might say, we aren't out shopping for recruitment clothing. She picked this dress for a dance she has coming up and said she could wear it for recruitment as well. I agreed, as I think it's a lovely dress, but I do have concerns about the shoes. We live in a rural area and our clothing and shoes options are limited, so when we are in the big city I certainly want to keep my eye out for a shoe that might be more appropriate. I do have a budget and finding the right shoe in the right price does take time.
I can assure you her priorities right now are on all her senior year activities. We shopped for another dress at the same time we found this dress for a banquet she has coming up and we still have a prom dress to find.
She has a list of everything she needs in the next six months and first an foremost on that list is her senior year needs. Next is college, which includes recruitment. We know what she needs and as we come across items that are appropriate and budget friendly, then we'll pick it up and mark it off.

As a mom of two girls living in rural America, I totally relate to everything you are saying here. During my daughters' senior years, we often bought dresses for a senior event that might double for college events (esp rush). People who don't live far away from a major city really don't understand this longterm thinking. Add on the fact that you might be a working mom and you really have more reason to plan ahead. Even with online shopping options, many people in small towns do it this way.

It's just that that wasn't how the question was originally presented. It's not that people don't 'get' the concept of planning ahead, it's that the OP said "Dress my pnm" not "We're thinking of getting this, could this play double duty for recruitment?"
