LOL! FTW. Didn't we just retread all the 80s stuff in an 80s thread a few months ago? (although Benz, the crinkle fabric memory made me lol)

Oh, I KNOW my stuff isn't "retro". I know there's still going to be some time before I reach the "what was I thinking!?" point.
I just thought it was a fun thread and wanted to play

Live-in was a fan of them for a while too and had a jacket - I saw it when his mom was getting ready for a garage sale. Then I began the cycle of merciless mockery. The poor guy can't get away with anything when I'm around.

I was in high school from 1989-1993.
Back in freshman (and maybe sophomore) year, straight hair was a no-no. If you didn't have at least a body wave, you were toast. I have stick-straight hair, so my hairdresser was very happy with me... and my mother, who paid for all those body waves, wasn't.
Anyone else remember those ID# shirts where the fabric was the wrong side out? Those were big when I was in middle school.
Hoop earrings and door-knocker earrings were very popular. I had a few pairs of hoop earrings, but I stayed away from the door-knockers (they just looked painful). Multiple ear piercings were popular, but my parents restricted me to one hole per ear (and I had to fight them for permission to get even that).

Probably because they were a brand new expansion team at the time, after the Disney movie cam out. As were the San Jose Sharks, with the teal blue. My sister had a Sharks hat and it looked so ridiculous on her!

Oh Jeez.....and yet another thread....LOL
84 -88
- designer jeans (Calvin Kleins, Sergio Valentes, Gloria Vanderbilt and don't get any knockoffs you got talked about)
- Lee's and Levi's flavored jeans
- BVD shirts to match
- Westwind windbreakers (Pull over jackets that had a zipper on left shoulder, you were ULTRA cool if you had a leather one)
- stopwatch - funny thing was at least in our school the ones that really wore them that needed them were those of us on the track team. We had to stop wearing them because people would deliberately set alarms to go off during class because 'they had to be somewhere)
- Georgetown colored patent leather high top Nikes
- Reebok classic came out around 84
- I mentioned Starter jackets in another thread
- Puff Leather jackets
- Preppy kids had Bennetton (sp?) Bags
- If you were really high end...Guess jeans
- Does anyone remember the Eemanuelle Khan glasses that had the 'snakeskin' design the ran across the bridge of the glasses?
- What about the Gazelle glasses? You had to have the right 'head' to wear them!
- Stonewashed jeans and jumpers anyone?
- Diadora sneakers
- The predecessor to Timberlands - Dominoes
- and of course suede Pumas

1999-2002
parachute/UFO pants
Timberland boots
Abercrombie & Fitch
The North Face butt packs were the thing for a hot minute
anything with Asian characters on it
using a tiny Louis Vuitton or Coach purse as your schoolbag- just put pens and keys in it and carry your notes in a binder in your hands (guilty)
wifebeaters
the ubiquitous Tiffany & Co. bracelet
Rocket dog platform flip flops

I was thinking more of the material than the style. They made them in all styles. Also, this is definitely junior high 1999-2001, but the two-in-one pants shorts combo were big. As we're and I shutter to say I ever put them on my body, cargo shorts.
