Now, I did my undergrad at Florida and simply teach here now ... but you are correct in Alpha Gam was there originally. Apparently, when they enlarged the stadium, the KD house and Alpha Gam house were moved ... the Tri-Delts chose to build a new house ... I think. I merely mentioned the only surviving houses.

No...KD, Alpha Gam and DDD are in the houses they've been in for decades. Pi Beta Phi moved...the others on the row folded long before.
"Old Row" does not mean the age of the house. It's a status thing. Read the thread and post that OTW referenced, please.

Gotcha ... so THAT'S why my daughter's Tri-Delt dues are so much higher? You see, I was a Kappa at UF and "know" that their house at UA is old ... learn something new every day!

Thanks, toots!

I don't think it's a purely geographic distinction. I think it has more to do with how long groups have been at Alabama.

While the street is certainly still described as being the old row, a group can move and still be an old row group, I think.

When I attended UA..."Old Row" referred to the fraternities more than sororities. Old Row is University Blvd. fraternities that include SAE, which was founded at UofA, and other historically "southern" frats. New Row is/was Jefferson Ave. fraternities.

Old Row sororities would include 6-7 sororities having long standing chapters at UofA, but geographic location has nothing to do with it...as I knew it waaaay back then.
