Your post was misleading because it read like you weren't forthcoming with the information. Then you stated it wasn't hard to not be forthcoming because you went to a large commuter school. Thanks for clarifying that everyone knew your age and the fact that you were a single parent. Well...I guess that's what you're saying.
As far as how "busy" you would've been, MIP is supposed to be a very busy time. So having a child, or other obligations that a more traditional student might not have, is something that could be worked around if you're forthcoming.

Nope, not very many people I know were getting pregnant in highschool or college, so they definitely weren't doing the same thing. And as for losing their virginity, most adults were doing the same thing when they were young. But it wasn't an anlaogy really, it was an illustration of the point that parents' reactions are not always the most accepting, as the other poster was implying. Parents' reactions to their children's struggles can sometimes be worse than anyone else's, particularly parents who tend to blame any issues a child has on their parenting skills.

Sorry to hear about your situation and I hope it gets better (hope you feel better as well). I go through a kinda similar situation with my LS's (truth be told, we really ain't that cool). I go to chapter meeting and events that we have and get funny looks and them whispering to each other (simply because the don't like me, I suppose). Anyway, my little $19. 20 cents is that I've always held on to something that one of my sorors and frat have told me "Just because they are a soror, don't make them your sister". Those aren't the ONLY Deltas in the world. Again, I do hope you feel better

Agreed. My prophytes knew I had a child in the very beginning, and were very considerate of my circumstances. Thanks to my line sisters, I made it through my senior year of college, single parenthood, and being online all at the same time. I don't think I could have made it without them (line sisters and prophytes)knowing this information.
I would kinda be at one of my line sisters revealing this type of information later on because we discussed those types of things during our bonding process.
Just my opinion as it relates to my situation.

That's really unfortunate. While our organizations go beyond our "lines" and our chapters, our "lines" and chapters are supposed to be a focal point and beginning of organizational learning and socialization. Similar to how our families are the beginning of our learning and socialization as people.

sounds like you had a great support system Soror...I guess everyone's "process" is somewhat unique...but now "my soul looks back and wonder" and my LSs and I can laugh as we reminisce on that time...

Soror Ladygreek, I was making an attempt to say in my own feeble and bumbling mind that christian principles, imho, are highly related and based on actual scripture, hence in my eyes correlated. But of course, that is subjective to what one embraces as Christianity. I was kind of torn in the way I felt about this young lady and her motives. On the one hand Granny laid it down early that christian principles and/or scripture doesn't condone homsexuality...period, but at the same time neither does it 'allow' judging and mistreatment. So at times I basically feel torn quite a bit... !
