I am blessed with a daughter who has a peanut allergy. That means I get all her Reese's, Snickers, Mr. Goodbars, etc. What a deal Unfortunately, she has decided she would rather go see Lemony Snicket in Ann Arbor this year than Trick or Treat, so no treats for me this year.

I just replaced the C with a K for Kappa. We do that. Ignore it.

Has anyone ever gotten a banana with a big brown bruise on it? LOL. I hated getting those.
I loved getting Bazooka bubble gum. My favorite.

As a child I was very fortunate to have neighbors who gave out great candy, and I continue the tradition at my neighborhood. I also take pictures of all of the children that come by my house.
I do Hershey Miniatures, all flavors of kisses, and I also buy pencils in bulk and toss those in for school.
I also buy full size candy bars and keep them in a special bowl for the 4 or 5 children that live closest to me or I have made brownies and popcorn balls, but I mark them so the parents know they come from my house, and put a recipie card in for the parents.

Taking pictures is creepy...
And for all those people out there worried about teeth...
If you're eating ok the rest of the year and brush, kids will be fine. If they're not then an extra week of candy is NOT going to kill them.
Just say NO to toothbrushes while Trick or Treating.

I think I only trick or treated twice when I was little. Didn't celebrate Halloween but we bought candy for the family or for some kids who might have come through (we lived up a hill so most kids weren't walking that far).
I didn't hate any candy but I didn't like it when the older neighbors would have nothing but hard candy like mints or butterscotch to hand out. It's like they took their "church candy" out of their church purses and decided to give it to us.

And the parents actually allow you to do it, or do you do it when the parents aren't there? That's a little too creepy for me!

I mean, I see the potential cuteness factor, but what do you do with the pictures....
It'd be different if it was a polaroid for the kids, but still... parents take pics of their kids already

But why would you want to take pictures of other peoples' children? Isn't that just a tad bizarre? I mean it might be totally something innocent, until one person things something different and then all hell breaks loose.
And your right, parents usually take pictures of their kids dressed up, so there really is no reason for lady Shmoo who lives 3 streets down to randomly take pictures of kids in costume.

None of the above, I do it because I love the costumes and the parents get a huge kick out of it. I get them in little groups and the tiny ones are hysterical because they really " act out " their costumes.
Halloween has always been my favorite holiday..Christmas is too commerical. I'm a huge horror movie buff, I love the fall, and it's just "my thing". I don't have one of those ridiculously decorated yards...on Halloween night, I have a fall wreath, about 3 lighted pumpkins, and I make paper lanterns with candles up my drive.
I have this huge photo binder, labeled by year, for all of the kids that have come by my house. I also make hot chocolate, and chocolate desserts, and 3 different flavors of popcorn, and when the parents come by, if it's a small group, I invite everyone in to ease the chill. It's a great way to meet the neighbors, as our community is large.
I don't invite children in that don't have parents with them.
The only people that think it's creepy, is those with sick minds. I have never had one parent to object, and it gives my friends that have children a huge selection of costume ideas. In fact, my house in my neighborhood has always been a favorite stop of the parents and the children for these reasons. I also have the photo albums out for the parents that stop by to look through, they love the idea.
