Oh no I have that...it's on CD..this is just the records part. I bought records back in the day at times and tapes.
I loved Mantronix....their first album was tight..
Biz Mark is a good DJ..a couple of times he used to spin at the First Fridays here in Philly and he was the isht. He played the records we wanted to hear and kept the dance floor packed. Ol skool rap, house and reggae...man those were the days...
While everyone else wanted to rhyme, I wanted to be a DJ. That's where all the hype was for me. But alas no wanted wanted to show a girl the ropes. I think if I pressed it enough and knew what I was doing, my dad would have bought me equipment. He was facinated with the whole idea of scratching (as long as I didn't do it on his stereo and mess up his needles)

I do remember Jazzy Joyce! But you are right female DJ's never got put on properly so much that she is the only one that I do remember. I don't put Spinderella in that category.

I thought Lyte and Rakim was very good. I thought Lil Kim did the best and kikced like a motha. I was ok with the Da Brat, but I wasn't feeling Remy at all. I thought Lyte could have been a little bit longer too.
Rakim, I will admit I was straight trippin when he was talking about college. Does anyone know what he is doing now a days to make money?
Fab, Puffy, and Q-Tip wasn't feeling them doing the Beastie Boys at all....NOT AT ALL!!!!
I agree with StarFish, not beats Bid Daddy Kane and his performance from last year. VH-1 soul was showing the show from last year all week leading up to the show this year and I alwasy seemed to turn right when Kane was coming on and I looked at it each time it came on.
All I can say is I was loving the look on Russell's face...it was like hell yeah. It reminded me of last year how after LL was honored and each time they panned to him he was basically on is feet and singing the songs...that's what I'm talking about. I saw that when they panned to the crowd and they showed RZA.
I'm not a giant Wu fan, but I do like me some Ghostface Killa, and I too was wondering where in the hell he was. I thought they should have been on a little longer too.
Ice Cube...yeah that is my dude...I was loving when he was talking about how he got with the east coast and they were talking about how he was good at everything but what was up with that curl. I remember that I use to think the same thing back in the day.
OMG, when Lil Easy was on there I was like dang he does sound like Easy. I was so feeling Bones Thugs being on there, and didn't know that that song was in memory of Easy. That is one of my favorite songs from the, and didn't I see the video yesterday.
Y'all talking about all those old school raps is really taking me back. I remember that I use to go to the Gallery Mall when it first opened and then go buy my 12" or , my albums every single Saturday from Sounds of Market. I have so much music on wax thta it's not even funny, and I don't even have a damn thing to play them on anymore. I do still have a turn table, but it has no needle.
Oh and StarFish was not lying when she said that in college they use to call her Lyte because she looked like her...for real y'all the whole time I was looking at Lyte, I was like damn that's StarFish!!!
Someone mentioned Scholly D and I use to work in the same dept as his sister....I remember when Looking at my Gucci came out, that was my joint.
