Cookie Crew, The / artists (C)
Real Name: Debbie "MC Remedee" Pryce, Susie "Susie Q" Banfiel
Profile: The Cookie Crew gained recognition in 1987 when they appeared on the first ever hip-house track 'Rok Da House' with the Beatmasters. They were a borderline commercial rap group, that gained respect from the hardcore hip hop heads for some of their harder tracks. Releasing two albums and many singles they are one of the most successful UK rap acts, who also gained recognition in the States. Some tracks on their second album 'Fade To Black' were produced by some of the top names in hip hop at the time, like, Black Sheep, DJ Premier and Daddy-O.

Yeah almost all of their songs were dance hall or had the UK dance beats.

I remember one of their videos they used to play on rap city back in the day--the one with the dude singing "do do do do do-do-doooo...do-do...the secrets of our success...."

JJ Fad also needs to be honored... Man I though I wanted to be a part time rap star after them.

A say we put together a list and email it over to VH-1 of all the people that should be honored. We should do a seperate list for women, hinting there should be a special for them.

Cause you can't play with my yo-yo-yo... don't try to play me out.....

Are you all recommending these people to be honored because you think they were trailblazers of some sort? JJFad certainly weren't lyricists but neither was Eazy-E (he didn't even write most of his own lyrics) so.....

I'on know about JJ Fad...they only had one good song "Supersonic"......

But Yo Yo...she was the first female rapper to cross over to the big screen...remember her in Boys in the Hood.

But really if they are going to honor a female rapper....Queen Latifah needs to be on top.

o.k. I had JJ Fad's record.

"we're JJ Fad and we're here to rock
rhymes like ours could never be stopped"

whatever happened to "Anquiette (sp) and the throw the p girls". they were luke skywalker's (uncle luke's) proteges. the cookie crew's beats were tight, though.

Is it me or does Lyte look like she had some work done?

I'm disappointed that she didn't do 10% Dis... that's the song that started it all.

Damn Kid Capri has been around forever, much like my homie DJ Ace, Biz Markie (who still turns out parties like we in the house with the blue light on), DJ S&S, what other great DJ's are there from the past that still rock like that......

I just loved JJ Fad and those jackets, my bad........ You can be a trailblazer from back in the days without writing your own rhymes.... hell there are still ghost writers now.

Ok, let's make a list of trailblazers who changed the game:
  1. Doug E. Fresh
  2. Ice T
  3. KRS One
  4. Salt n Pepa
  5. RUN DMC
  6. LL Cool J
  7. Public Ememy
  8. Mc Lyte
  9. Hammer because he was performer
  10. Russel Simmons because he started it
  11. Queen Latifah
  12. Big Daddy kane

I look at the youth, like man you'll really missed good music. Although I'm not 30 yet (close to it) I was raised in music, hip hop and r &b. Hell growing up in the hood that what kept us sane.... now everything sounds alike. If the pop stuff, cover girls, madonna, etc made stuff we could groove to. Now it's just...........
