I want to echo the concerns of an earlier poster, "When is your recruitment taking place?" If it is in August, you are seriously running behind and might be better off with a friend and a good camera. In the case of an August rush, rec deadlines are fast approaching and these pics need to go with your recs.
The level of professionalism on the pictures does not really earn you any extra points. But, not having them in time, can definitely be a negative.
And yes, those pics you posted are good examples of a photograph that would work.

This is a link to the photographer in our area who does most of the pics for girls going through rush. You can get an idea of what they look like. Most are in natural settings, the girls are not dolled up, nor glamoured! haha

and this - cute girls who graduated with my son!!

If you insist on using a prop, what you don't want to do is have one that will give you a nickname among the actives, like "Goat Girl", (FSUZeta will remember this one) "Bubbles", or 'Uncle Sam".

A lot of people have asked, but what is wrong with your senior pictures? They've already been printed out, hopefully show you at your best, and are the right size!
About three summers ago, I wrote 60+ recommendations for hometown girls, and they all submitted their senior photos. Some of them did the drapes, and some of them used other clothes. These were girls headed to SEC schools, Texas, A&M, and FSU.
So, again--why not just use those?

If they look good, and they still look like you, I agree.
But, remembering back to my senior portrait (circa 1981), it was taken the summer before my senior year. My hair was dark brown with a perm. During senior year, I highlighted it and the perm grew out (thank GOD!! ) and it was styled in a blunt cut with bangs, so noone could have possibly recognized me from that picture.

I would if I had senior pictures. I graduated abroad and they didn't take senior pictures. Because of the deadline, I will try to find someone who can take a snapshot of me!

I've never heard Goat Girl but have heard the other 2. Bubbles was dressed in a fluffy pink wrap with bubbles behind her in her senior picture and Uncle Sam was dressed in red, white and blue with stars in hers.

Wow, that sounds like fun!
Get on the pictures--really! As someone who ended up writing a ton of recs one summer, time is of the essence.

I second everything that has been said about photographs taken by a friend or family member. I have found that those tend to be more memorable (in a good way) than professional pictures.
Big caveat: If you decide to use a picture of yourself in a formal, make sure that it's not too low-cut, short, backless, etc. Remember that this picture is the only visual that the alumnae writing your recommendations will have of you (assuming that they don't know you personally). More modest is always a safe choice.

I would go with the photo on the far right of this website http://www.highschoolseniorportraits.com/ not the left or the middle. That's a good photo. I'd avoid anything with vehicles, flames, sequins, farm animals, or ridiculous props.

i had a senior pic similar to this
