Photographs for Sorority Resume

I was looking around GC and couldn't find a post about the photographs for Sorority recruitment. Do they have to be headshots? I'm thinking about getting professional pictures taken and needed to know what to get done.
Thank you so much! :)

KDDani, where did you get my senior pic? I really rocked the shiny purple that year!

I've heard it said that the glamour shots, "soft touch" photos, and objects like feather boas in the pics are annoying. Look pretty, but not like Mimi a la Drew Carey.

No one else in the picture, please! Senior pictures are usually good as long as they look like YOU!

I've seen some crazy trends in senior pictures, just demented. My high school had the "senior page" so each person could decorate it as they please, but an average composite photo was still done by every student (the school district had a photo put in the file for each year, even if you never bought photos). I do live in a rural area, so it shouldn't have surprised me that my engagement photographer also photographed seniors with the 4-H goats, in the FFA jackets, and even driving a tractor. I distinctly remember a girl in full camo hunting gear with her rifle and a 10 point buck 9or something like that) on her four wheeler, and with a fish she caught.

I miss the crazy pictures grade school pictures with giant crayons, a fake background with a fence, paint cans with a ladder and Jackson Pollock action, or my personal favorite, the one with you smiling and a second shot of your face above looking serious.

Yea... I'm going to have to vote 'no' on that one :p

So obviously no glamour shots! haha! So only headshots- head and shoulders? Or can it be a professional photograph in a park just sitting down?:)

The hot thing when I was a senior (back in 97) was to take a pic of you in your basketball/volleyball/soccer uniform with the ball on fire. You had a super-serious look on your face while dry-ice fog was pooling around your feet.

We were so cool when we were seniors.

A google image search brought up some really umm, spirited would be a good word, senior photos. I even saw some with flames.

I would go with the photo on the far right of this website http://www.highschoolseniorportraits.com/ not the left or the middle. That's a good photo. I'd avoid anything with vehicles, flames, sequins, farm animals, or ridiculous props.

Any picture of you will be fine. It should be you, alone, and can be with any sort of background, in any setting.(the park is fine)

The important thing is that it look like you. Do not send in a pic of you before you gained 30 pounds and cut your hair 10 inches and added red highlights. They need to be able to recognize you. That is the whole point of the picture - to put a name with a face.

Some schools like a head shot and full body shot as well. Find out what is the norm at your school by contacting Greek life or a local panhellenic group.

The whole idea of including a photo is so that you will be recognized. You want to make it easy for sisters to know who you are from the minute you walk in the door. Some schools do ask for both a head shot and a full body shot - when you do the full body shot, include something that will give an idea of how tall you are. Not a yardstick or a goat, but something like a baton, a door, a barre - you get the idea.

If you use the park, don't wear camo. It'll scare the chipmunks and the sisters alike!
