stressed moms almost done!
Hi,
I've been supporting my daughter all through her recruitment. Thank heaven for this web site. I've talked her through her entire experience - here it is in a nutshell
I'll name the houses:
red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, brown, black, white, gray
(colors have NOTHING to do with sorority colors)
Day 1-2 open house - she went to all 11 houses on campus. Very overwhelmed. Liked orange, red, yellow, blue
Day 3-4 First rounds - some girls in red remembered her - felt hopful still liked them best. Had a difficult time at indigo. She felt very out of place and ignored. She ranked the houses:
orange, red, blue, yellow, black, gray, white, green, brown, violet, brown
Day 5-6 second rounds: Girls could be invited back to a max of 6 houses. My daughter was upset - she only got 4 bids back. (personally I thought that was great - other gilrs in her group got 6 but some only 2)
Here's the bids she got:
violet, white, gray, black
her ranking: black, white, gray, violet
Perf night! - Nervous all day- seriously thought she wouldn't get any bids. Lo and behold she got three!
bid from: white, black, violet (thrilled to get a bid from black -fave right now, white - really likes, violet - not sure says girls are nice she'll see how tonight goes)
So that's the story for now. Tommrow is bid day. I'm pulling for black or white. (Although I truly believe violet really, really likes her)
fingers are crossed! Her school does have quota additons so I'm hopful that she won't get "the call"

So after first rounds, she ranked brown twice and indigo not at all? I take it you mean she ranked indigo last.
I hope your daughter gets good news tomorrow.

Sounds like my daughter's experience. 10 Open Houses, Invited back to 6 out of a possible 8(Philanthorpy), Invited back to 4 out of a possible 5 (Skit Day), Invited back to 3 out of 3 for Pref (went to all three but only ranked 2...she liked the girls at #3 but couldn't really see herself there) and will find out tomorrow where she'll land. I don't really know (we didn't have Greeks at my college) but I think she did well. She says she'll be happy at either sorority #1 or #2 but I think she'd really like to be in #1. It's been a great experience for her and she's very happy that she decided to go through Recruitment.

Update
Perf night went really well. Still likes White the best. She did say she'd be happy in any of the three houses. In fact she went to all three parties with one girl. They hope they'll be together tommrow!
Tune in after 1pm EST! for the big result - pray no "before 10" call!!!
Thanks for all your support!

Good luck to your daughter!
BTW, she got 4 invites after the first round and 3 invites after the second round. She is waiting to see if she got a bid today. A bid is an invitation to join; an invite is merely an invitation to the next round.
