I don't know what it is about my chpater and firesides, but everytime we have them it just erases all anger people may have for each other. It not only unites but it brings spirit back to the house/chapter. I dont know how everyone other chpater has their fireside, but here's a suggestion from how AB has theirs....
1) If you have a house, throw a big sleepover (even if you don't maybe find a place where girls can stay. DON'T make it mandatory, cuz if you do a lot of times people will feel obligated and etc. I find that more people come to events when they dont feel pressure to. Also tell the girls they can come whenever and they dont have to stay, but It'd be more fun/better if they did.
2)I think all chapters might do this, but dim the lights and pass that candle around letting every sister tell what Alpha Gam/being a sister means to them.
3) This is something our chapter does....
Buy safety pins and Red, Yellow and Green beads that can slip onto the pins. The lights dont have to be off for this. Every girl starts out with a safety pin. Again you go around in a circle saying stuff. This happens 3x so you can put all 3 beads on the pin. First time you grab a red bead, second round a yellow and you get the hint. For each bead you have to say something different...
Red: Tell information about yourself and/or why you chose AGD.
Yellow (
Buff): Something important to you that you have learned since you came to college and/or AGD. It can be academic, about yourself, whatever. Usually people say something about themselves.
Green: Favorite Alpha Gam memory/experience. It can be more than one too, but remember not to go overboard and let others have time to tell theres

OR (this is something I just thought off) take the time to thank a sister who has done something for you or apologize for something (only if its not too personal).
By the time this is done everyone is either in tears (happy ones) or laughing their rears off. Definately with the candle everyone is pretty much crying.
4) FOOD! Pig out. Order food in, bring it, if you want go out for ice cream, whatever...just have food!
5) Bring in some music for to liven things up. Nothing better and bring in more spirit then getting crazy and acting a fool with your sisters.
6) Just thought of this too. Tell everyone to being any pictures that they might have (preferably doubles and negatives). Shares the pics, start making scrapbooks, let people take the negs and make a double of the pic. You know how you always see a pic that someone else has that you want

. Also make a chpater collage. Target, Walmart, Kmart, etc all sell really big picture frames (like 18x20 and I think they have bigger sometimes) get everyone to pic out pics they want in it and to cut them out. Put it in the frame and hang it up in the chapter room, living room, hallway wherever. Not only will you get everyone reminiscing, but everytime you see it, it will remind you all of that awesome night you did it and how much being an Alpha Gam.
7) HYPE UP YOUR EVENTS!

Get sisters pumped up to do whatever activities you guys want/have to do. If it seems like something that might not be interesting to alot of people, add a twist to it and make it fun.
8) Always remember why you chose AGD
** side note** we also came up with games like a sister switch and you come dressed up as another sister in your chapter (of course being NICE about it), and a 'Name that Sister' sheet were you were given some clues (characteristics, activities, etc) about sisters and had to guess who they were.
Composite stealing is also a bonding event (totally legal on our campus). You have 24-48 hours to let the frat. know you have it, and the only way you can get into their house is if someone lets you in or the door is open. Lots of frats. leave their doors open at UM. The frats. usually serenade you to get it back or give roses, whatever. We usually get pretty silly when we do this and sometimes when we got caught it was fun being chased and having a tug of war with the guys over the composite. Not only is it a bonding moment, but it also shows teamwork. We always shouted Hadie Kadie when we were successful and walked back to the house with it.
Hope that helps!
