Just type up questions (and cut each down to a tiny strip, like a fortune cookie) and put them in little decorated buckets or containers on the table, have everyone pick one and discuss. This way you have control over the questions and you can make silly ones, fun ones, semi-serious ones, and it gives you the flexibilty to avoid any sensitive topics. (For example, you draw a question about parents with a PNM whose mom died, you can easily pretend you drew a different question)
It's not that different from what you're doing, but it will avoid the canned questions, and make them more personal to your sisters and the PNMS.
