Unhappy DESPERATE for recuitement ideas

Hey ladies! Im from the Zeta Chi chapter at Coastal Carolina University. Basically, I am in serious need of some help. A few years ago, Sigma's just started going down the drain. We arent the "popular" ones in which we used to be on campus, and other sororities sway potential members away from us and towards them by telling them that we are "dorks". The other sororities also have walking barbie dolls, which we dont, which also helps them out during recruitment. During spring 2003 we inititated 3, ONLY 3, new sisters. I am in such fear of not getting any girls this upcoming fall 2003, and I don't know what to do. What's really bad also is that we have 2 other sororties on campus which each have about 45-60 memebers.. where as, after graduation this past spring of 2003, we will have about 16 girls in our Rush room. We believe that we are going to have to rely on COB's after formal recruitment, but do y'allhave any ideas of what we can do to make this experience less painless and more fun. We are all terrified of what is going to happen to our chapter. What can we do to make ourselves look better during this recruitment period, even though we will only have 16 girls sisters in the Rush room? And how do we change our image?!

Please help! 10 days til recruitment, and definately counting!

Have you tried getting on other chapter's websites and emailing their recruitment director. We have a chapter on our campus in a similar situation. One thing is definitly make the room bright and fun, do a luau theme or anything to incorporate a lot of color. Fill the room up with as much stuff as possible, you may not have a lot of girls but you can make it look as though the room is full. Get some banner paper and put your accomplishments, awards, campus activities, service projects, and anything any sister in your chapter does. Put your best girls first, if possible learn about the girls before they come in (this is really impressive to a PNM when you already know stuff about them). And then after recruitment have a massive COR!! Good luck ladies! Hope this helps somewhat.

We have had a lot of fun and a lot of bad COBs. The ones that I thought were the best were progressive dinners, Sigma games (pictionary, name that tune, etc...) Anything where you can put the PNMs in groups with the members from your chapter works well. Not only do you get to know them, they get to know you. You can also bring them to footbal games, basketball, etc... I personally don't like the ice cream socials, mod-podge, etc COBs because there isn't a whole lot of mixing. You can also have an open house to even when you're not recruiting. Just have members bring their friends and open it to anyone. This is a good way to get people to get to know your chapter better. Hope this helps.
