Have you ever read Judith Martin books? SureSister has forever enjoyed how she refers to herself as Miss Manners. Seems appropriate to honor Ms. Martin's technique given the lack of etiquette contained in some recent posts.

Again, the link is gone.

Oh yes, it definitely doesn't guarantee anything. But we are always trying to stack the deck in our favor, so to speak. Recruitment, job interviews, dating, climbing the corporate ladder, etc.

Lillady85 thinks that SureSister and Jimmy from Seinfeld are going out but Lillady85 would never say such a thing.

33girl thinks SureSister, Jimmy and Bob Dole are probably having a three way. 33girl's gonna go throw up now.

GreekChat hates stealth marketers.

I don't want to get in the rest of the mix, but this kind of statement is a big peeve of mine. Wouldn't Miss Manners frown on openly criticizing the etiquette of others? It's like people who complain loudly about the other team's lack of sportsmanship - to me that is being a poor sport, too.

Sometimes we have to silently take the high road (if we are convinced there is a high road), because trying to take it vocally in this manner falls flat.

Is it poor manners to point out someone's poor manners in pointing out someone else's poor manners?

Just kiddin'

^^Yes. But I knew that going in and didn't make any claims to personally be doing otherwise.

(I figured I'd throw something in for the GC males who have to be really sick and tired of recruitment threads.)

We thank you!

And I miss Buffy, who I bet would have fun with someone who always refers to herself in third person.

I'm sure someone could make these work:

Giles--"Things involving the computer fill me with a childlike terror. Now, if it were a nice ogre or some such, I'd be more in my element."

Buffy--"I don't know what's coming next. But I do know it's gonna be just like this -- hard, painful. But in the end, it's gonna be us. If we all do our parts, believe it, we'll be the ones left standing. Here endeth the lesson."

"I didn't ask for this. I don't even know... What is she?
"

"If someone could just wake me when it’s time to go to college, that’d be great"

"
I have had a really bad day, okay? If you have information worth hearing, then I am grateful for it. If you're gonna crack jokes, then I'm gonna pull out your ribcage and wear it as a hat.
"
