Thanks for bringing this TTT

There is an interested young lady at my school who I think has great service and a positive attitude. However, she is trying to play a few people for information, including me. Which I'm sure will not go well if she keeps it up. I think she may be on GC (she won't acknowledge knowing about GC), so I hope she stops the madness. I have already peeped your game! Be yourself. People (not just sorors) actually think you are nice and your service is stellar, but if you keep putting your foot in your mouth that may not fair in your favor.

i have an interest who has been going steady for a couple years. we as a chapter felt she needed some time to grow (up). fast forward to last semester, when our newest line came out. obviously realizing that she missed the boat yet again, she messaged me on FB asking me "how come no one called me? i wouldve been ready, ive been really patient and im almost graduating - please call me as soon as you get this."

ummm yeah. right. she is really dedicated but lacks the maturity hardcore.

Soror, this can't be true! She actually asked you "how come no one called me?" Too funny.

it wasnt her exact words but it was along the lines of "you can reach me by phone, email, facebook and i always have my sidekick with me so what's good i'm so down p.s. i'm a senior."

LMAO

The biggest mistake I made was making the concept of getting to know members a bigger deal than it was. Please don't get my words wrong because I know becoming a part of a lifelong sisteRHOod is a big deal. The part that I blew out of proportion was getting to know the individual members of the chapter. It seemed odd to start talking to members out of the blue trying to get to know them. My train of thought was, "They know I'm only talking to them to join the sorority." What I didn't realize is that sorority members expect you to reach out to show your interest in the organization they represent. Speaking to members and holding conversation as an interest is not kissing up. It's a means to get to know your potential future sisters.

Just typing that makes me feel and as in "DUH!" LOL

We had one individual who was interested come to a inforamtional and at the end told some of our prospective members she was considering another organization. Now she is emailing asking when the next intake will happen.

Wrong move.

Very bad move.
I would say if somebody was overly eager to become a member.

I actually have both of the times somewhere in my home where I can see them regularly. It keeps me humble and reminds me that the short way isn't always the best way.

Ditto!

Hmmm, I can think of at least two things that were done by potentials that really made me and other sorors

While going through her process, one potential tried to elicit donations from her classmates and even went so far as to ask her professor for money to pay her dues. A D9 sister from another sorority was pissed when she witnessed this and immediately informed the chapter which reacted like and Thank goodness that potential is NOT a soror.

On another occasion, some potentials showed up to a sorority event wearing that rhoyal blue and gold. I cannot stand this. If anything, I was scared to touch those colors until I became an actual member of SGRHO.
