Man, my wife would have set me up with everything I need to be comfortable, and quarantined me in the bedroom and she'd sleep on an air mattress. She does NOT play with anything like that or sickness.

You guys couldn’t see the humor in my post? I’m totally teasing, it’s always his choice. But no, he did not sleep on the couch. Most of the smell is gone anyway, but even if it wasn’t, he’d still be right here in bed with me. If I’m sick, he’s with me. If I tell him not to, because I’m sick, he stays anyway. That’s just the husband he is. His love doesn’t waver, even when I wish he’d take a break for his own good.

He would never sleep on the couch or in another bedroom. If anything, the worse a situation is, the closer he wants to be. It doesn’t matter if I’m sick, exhausted, or in this case, mildly skunked, lol. His natural response is always to stay by my side. He’s always put me before himself, even when he shouldn’t, but that’s just who he is. Honestly, when it comes to our kids and me, I don’t think he knows how to be any other way.

WIFLSRN: Every year I always tell myself I’m not hosting another Super Bow party, but I always end up doing so. Ugh.

Hey y’all, what do you think about this Valentine’s gift? A friend of mine asked my opinion on what she’s doing for her dude for Valentine’s Day. She’s been with him for two years. I’ve only met him once, so I don’t really know him. But she just found out she’s pregnant and told me she’s going to put multiple platforms in one box. On the first platform, there’s going to be candy. On the second platform there’s going to be multiple pictures of the two of them - all the outings and trips they went on together. On the final platform is going to be her pregnancy test. She asked my opinion and I told her I don’t know him, but don’t expect him to be as happy as you. I didn’t tell her how I’d feel, but that’d fuck up the holiday for me.

What do y’all think? Mainly to the dudes on here. Ladies, feel free to post your thoughts too.

Was it planned? I mean, that’s like a chocolate covered paternity test. Women and men process emotions differently, so I think she should sit down and talk to him about that now. Know what I mean?

Then there’s the sneak attack, thioacetates. They don’t smell much at first, but when they mix with water or oxygen, they turn into more thiols. That’s why even after a bath, a skunked dog (or person) can suddenly start smelling really bad again when they get wet.
That is the concoction that worked with Charlie when he was skunked. I made a paste out of it, massaged it into his fur and left it on him for 10-15 minutes and rinsed him off. He did smell the next two or three times he got wet, but when he was dry, he wasn't smelly anymore. The problem is that he was skunked underneath my deck and there were crawl space vents by the skunking event so the whole family room reeked. It was weeks until it went away.

Unless she is sure he will be happy about it, that's a terrible way to tell him.

I need more information to give my opinion. If it’s something they were working on then that’s different. That’d destroy my whole life if that happened to me tho. Haha

That's a hard no from me.

Unless they had been planning on having children together, actively trying, AND seriously seriously about marriage, I think this type of "surprise gift" is tacky and could backfire.

The adult thing to do is to tell him now by sitting down and discussing it in a proper way.

Phroz—I say “NO!” and “HELL NO!” to her idea of announcing her pregnancy in that manner. The news is way too important—it’s the rest of BOTH their lives!
He’s going to feel ambushed—and I cannot imagine a positive outcome. It’s almost like she’s afraid to say it outright, so she’ll butter him up with “cuteness”.

Now—if they’ve been trying and it’s welcome news—that’s a different story.

PLEASE keep us all in the loop on this continuing saga!!

Yeah, I was just laughing in the difference between our spouses.

What stands out to me even more is the fact that she asked for your opinion before telling him. That suggests she’s unsure about how he’ll react, which means the real issue here isn’t just the pregnancy, it’s the uncertainty in their relationship. If she truly believed he’d be happy, she wouldn’t need reassurance from you or anyone else.

The other part which always amazes me is when folks are surprised in a way that “this wasn’t supposed to happen”. I don’t really see why this would be a surprise to him when she does tell him. They had sex. The last time I checked, pregnancy is a possible consequence of that.

I completely agree. Too late now, but she should have told him first, and I concur that unless they were trying and this will absolutely be a happy and joyful announcement, she needs to have a mature conversation with him when she shares this.
