Mine is to be able to consistently pass the coast guard rescue diving physical fitness test. I don't want to be a rescue diver, it's just a structured goal to get in good shape all around. It shouldn't be that hard, which is good because I don't have time to get in like life-changing shape lol. I think I want to be able to do that by July 1 and in April I'll start thinking about a goal to meet by the end of the year. Anyways it's this:
• Swim -- 500 yards, non-stop, using side or breast stroke -- 14 minutes
• Rest -- 10 minutes
• Push-ups -- 42 push-ups in 2 minutes
• Rest -- 2 minutes
• Sit-ups -- 50 sit-ups in 2 minutes
• Rest -- 2 minutes
• Pull-Ups -- 6 pull-ups, no time limit. Palms facing away from the body
• Rest -- 10 minutes
• Run -- 1.5 miles 12:45 time limit

I've decided that I'm going to read at least one book for personal enjoyment a month, hopefully 2 books every 6 weeks. I want to be able to enjoy literature again!

1) Stop being such a worrywart.
2) Start up yoga again.
2) De-clutter the house. Now that the girls are adults/in college, I really have to let go of some stuff.
3) Realize and appreciate that said daughters are adults.

I want to buy more local produce, and therefore incorporate more fresh produce in my diet. That'll be good for my (and my husband's!) health, weight, recipe creativity, local farmers, and the environment. I've started to look into a weekly delivery service to take out some of the hassle & excuses.

So cliche - but gypsyboots is getting married in January 2012, and I have GOT to be at least 20 lbs. lighter. Now that I once again have Armour (actually, it's another manufacturer, but same deal) thyroid medication again, I may have a chance!

I rarely write resolutions, but I've realized that unless I know where I want to go, I'll never get there. These are the things I want to accomplish on some level. Even taking a few steps might be enough to enact change or find fulfillment.
1. Continue blogging with a purpose (I have just started).
2. Be more proactive in treating my disease on a daily basis. Doing little things that add up, even when I'm already feeling beat down.
3. Find at least one or two opportunities to act in the coming year. Taking a class or two to renew connections and refresh skills.
4. Film another script that I've written, possibly episode 2 of our web series.
5. Have more "adventures" with my hubby.
6. Take a real vacation this year (it's been four years).
7. Buy and make great use of the state Beach Pass. It's $60 for the entire season, and it's only 45 minutes away.
8. Stay out of the hospital for more than 6 months at a time.
9. Go out of my way to make my mom, who is always miserable, happy when I can, even if she drives me nuts.
10. Give a homeless kitty a forever home, providing a new brother or sister for my 4-year old cat, and a new baby for us to love.
Good luck to everyone who hopes to make changes in the upcoming year. Let's revisit this thread next December to see what we've managed to do!!

Re: Nail biting - the only thing that got be to stop was getting braces (Invisalign) that made it absolutely impossible to bite them. Sorry that doesn't help you lovespink - womp womp.
I don't really do resolutions - they're a little too abstract for my taste. I am, however, working through an end of the semester reflection that will hopefully help me assess the past semester, and set goals for next semester and beyond. (graduation - eek!)

I don't really do resolutions per se, but I do have some goals that I hope to accomplish in 2011 including:
1) Passing the CISSP exam
2) Finding a job in IT security
I've been working on #2 with no results so far but I'm pretty confident that if I can achieve #1, then #2 will follow quickly. The biggest obstacle right now is finding $600 to pay for the CISSP exam .. within the next 3 weeks <sigh>. Otherwise, I have to wait until May to take it and I'll be in the middle of a class then, which would royally stink.

So, I just passed the Notary exam for New York! My goal is to be a great Notary but, also to work towards and pass the CASAC exam for Chemical Dependency! I'm already in the field but, this will definitely help me become a QHP before getting my LMSW. This year, I'm going to set reasonable goals!

Come to GA; there isn't a Notary exam ( at least the last 2 times I've gotten mine and then renewal, I just had to have a form signed by witnesses.)
