I couldn't have said it better myself.
Unless something has changed dramatically since your first rush at the same school, you should not go in expecting better results.

This was all at a fairly competitive school with 18 sororities almost all of which were at total of around 135. I couldn't say how many girls went through rush but the number would be high.
I fully realize that my situation was unique and I was lucky with my outcome.

I don't mean this as a jab at your age, but it is relevant to mention that this was 25ish years ago!

I recieved my bid the second time I went through rush. I dropped out the first time after some crazy self-inflicted drama. I spent the rest of my freshman year making friends, getting involved in various clubs and groups, and going to class!
I re-rushed my sophomore year and recieved my bid. If I hadn't recieved a bid, I would have been okay- I still had my friends and my activities- I would say greek life didn't make my college experience, but it did enhance it.
At the time I went through at my school, recs weren't a big deal. Also, only about 20% of the campus was greek, so greek life was there, but not the end all be all. Our chapter size was 150 and pledge classes were 45-50 women. I'm not sure how many women went through rush, but I would say about 500 or 600?

We're not discouraging, just letting people know that rushing twice and getting a bid isn't something that a PNM should expect to happen. Sure it works for some, but we'd be remiss to tell people it works all the time.

Remiss.
I wonder how many times it needs to be said, though.

And yet some people never get what they deserve, I suppose.

There is a huge difference between judging and offering realistic advice.

At least she didn't call herself miss grammar. Her attempt at formal, Miss Manners-sounding, writing fails.

Girls come on this website looking for real advice, not a lets-all-hold-hands Lifetime story.

Well my Lifetime Channel sorority experience involved holding hands until Jenna Von Oy fell off a building when we were being hazed. Thankfully they didn't use Sharpies when they circled our fat.

Don't forget the finger-pricking and making out with Zach from Saved by the Bell.

I wasn't trying to get hopes up for people who were looking to go through the process more than once, I was simply curious to see who else was in my situation.
Not all of us make fantastic first impressions in stressful situations. Also, I realize that I was lucky, but I also worked hard to improve my weaknesses.
If you can handle rejection and understand it's a very high possibility, don't be afraid to try the process again.
