Not that I'm defending smoking or smokers (I find it to be a filthy and stupid habit, but whatever) but the tobacco companies actually did all they could to hide the evidence that proved smoking to be carcinogenic and otherwise harmful to your health. I don't think McDonalds ever went around touting the health benefits of a Big Mac!
