And really, I think that on this topic EVERYBODY lies. Men, women, everybody. If someone is nosy enough to ask, then they deserve whatever answer they get. Youa re asking for that person to tell you what you want to hear in essence.
Some questions like "have you been tested for an STD" or "will you put on the condom" are a given, and not intrusive if you are having sex, but others... you're just kinda asking for the lie.

I think that if the relationship becomes very serious, you know to the point where you tell each other everything, then this question is appropriate. But when you are sleeping with someone in a relationship for the first time, don't mess up the vibe. Casual sex doesn't count...grew out of that.
Plus, I find it hard to believe that most guys OVERestimate. LOL. I am sure there are those studly, superfine men who just HAVE to lower the number so the girl won't walk out. But most men's egos just will not allow such a travesty as to have someone think they have slept with fewer girls than they actually have.
