It sounds like maybe it was a short-term situation "during the investigation" -- perhaps to facilitate evidence collection? It was written in the past tense, and there wasn't any reference to a university-imposed long-term house closure in the article. Is there additional published information about this, aside from the linked report?

I wouldn't call twice in 13 years a troubling trend...completely different students many years apart. Does Ohio have a law allowing mothers to give up babies at emergency sites without repercussions? We have that, but it's pretty new.

Every state has some form of safe haven law. Ohio allows a biological parent to leave his or her child with a medical worker at a hospital, fire department, or other emergency service organization; or with a "peace officer" at a law enforcement agency.

Maybe the article headline writer made an error. The article states twice that the baby's body was found AT the sorority house. No mention of it being outside.
