Mild correction for you.
What if she were of Middle Eastern origin, or Muslim, or born in a different country than the one she's in now, or anything else that makes her slightly different from Betty Sue Smith from Heartland, USA?
Absolutely nothing.
The problem isn't that these ignorant bigots think she might be any of the things listed above (full stop), but that any of those things mean she's a terrorist.
As an Indian-American, I'm very, very disappointed in her unkind comment about her predecessor, but was so very glad to see so much ethnic diversity in last night's competition. The (semi?) finalists included women from Indian (NY), Chinese (CA), likely half-Chinese (MN), and black (TX) backgrounds. I think I also noticed many other examples of ethnic diversity among all of the 53 contestants (as evidenced by names and appearances).
What accomplished young women we have representing our states and territories! A solider, many future doctors and lawyers, scholars (Miss Washington, D.C. is an Indian-American and a Phi Beta Kappa from UNC.), opera singers, and the list goes on and on! Amazing!
