"Congratulations to @MissNewYorkMAO Nina Davuluri, Alpha Tau Chapter at MSU, for winning the Miss America pageant! @MissAmerica2014 #sklove"

And why did no one from SK not mention this sooner??

They probably didn't want to claim her because of her unsportsmanlike conduct, but then she won. That's my guess.

“The situation was investigated fully back in July and there is no validity to the story whatsoever. Miss New York spoke to Mallory Hagan to let her know there was no validity and to apologize if she was offended in any way.”

This is the statement that the Miss America officials made prior to the competition. Apparently, someone else in the group (not Miss NY) made the comment that was then attributed to the contestant.
