But isn't that one of those things that can vary from group to group? I know that some NPCers in the past have talked about how there is (or at least was) an "Interested in AI?" link on their national websites.

Yes. And that's the prerogative of those groups.

I think overall, AI is a little more akin to NPHC intake than NPC recruitment, i.e. DISCRETION IS KEY. Even the groups that have the links on their sites want to hear why you want to be an XYZ, not why you want to be in some sorority. So you need to do your research, and then approach ONE group, not be shopping a bunch at once.

Now, if that group doesn't work out, and you decide to go down a different path, fine, but you shouldn't let everyone know you are jumping from one to the next.
