I am pledging a fraternity and I was told to wear Polo Ralph Lauren, BrooksBrothers, Sperry’s Boat shoes, among other really expensive brands like Vineyard Vines. What is the true purpose behind wearing these labeled brands? Is it to appear wealthier and richer among others in society? Is it to portray British aristocratic-like fashion? Is it to make yourself known among other greeks, like gangs do by wearing specific colors (Crips with blue, Bloods with red)? I mean, if its about dressing conservative and classier can’t all of us do that by simply wearing polos, shirts, and solid tees? What’s the obsession with designer labels? Please answer respectfully, fraternity brothers are most welcome to answer, I don’t want to ask my brothers simply out of humiliation for not knowing. Sorority sisters can also answer too. Thanks!!!
