Exactly. My school is a good example. During third grade, the teacher had such poor control that all the students pulled the desks together in groups of two to three and put our trapper keepers up on the desks to make little forts. The teacher couldn't see what we were doing all day. Mostly we played and dried glue on our hands so we could peel it off like dead skin.

I slept through the fifth grade. My teacher was shorter than everyone but two of the kids in my class. The only thing I "learned" that year was that evolution was ridiculous because it said a fish jumped out of a river and suddenly became a rabbit, then the rabbit hopped into a tree and became a monkey then the monkey started walking upright and became a man. Even at 10, I knew that explanation was disingenuous. But...we prayed every morning.
ETA: There are some very good religious schools in LA that do a good job (though science education will always overlook evolution, I guess they'll get this in college) but none of these schools are hurting for students or will take more than a couple of these voucher students. Most have to start at K5 so they don't have to catch up with their peers or be "deprogrammed" or bring any bad public school mojo with them.
