History Ideas
A couple things I did with my chapter to help learn the history was organized a trip to the school where we were founded, and to the headquarters. It was a very impressive trip and the pledges learned a great deal about the fraternity as a whole, and saw that it was bigger than just the school they attended.
Another thing we did was to have several older members reenact the founding of the chapter, or the fraternity as a whole....makes for a fun night if your chapter likes skits.
Also, you can try giving each pledge a project to discover something new that they did not know before....this would require trips to libraries or internet searches......also, if the chapter is old enough, have each pledge try to contact an alumnus to learn something new also, maybe from the time the alums were in school.
Lastly, a fun event we had also was to invite the national historian to our chapter to talk about the history of the organization, and to go over the various rumors that were floating around.
Any of these all depends on how interested the members and pledges are in wanting to learn new things.
Hope this helps
