I'm always slightly suspicious of the Panhellenic "what to wear" advice pictures. In the SMU descriptions, it keeps saying to wear tennis shoes, but no one in any of the pictures is wearing tennis shoes. It just seems to me that many of the official Panhellenic brochures and on-line advice pictures downplay clothes, high heels, etc., but I'm not sure I'd want to be the one wearing tennis shoes when in reality everyone else is wearing something cuter/a bit dressier. From looking at the SMU pictures, I'd go with cute, comfortable, yet chic shoes, but not tennis shoes, during the early rounds, even though it says to wear tennis shoes for the first two rounds.
Definitely follow the advice about not going overboard for pref., though. You don't want to be the most casual on casual days, and you don't want to be the dressiest for pref., either. I'd try to find out from some current students what the typical look is at Arkansas. If they come out with an official recruitment guide book, then take what it says about staying really comfortable with a certain grain of salt. I agree that clothes should be downplayed, but I don't think I'd want to be the one taking that risk.
