Because of why Delta and GE have a relationship and why these limited edition appliances were created.

In addition to what agzg said, some NPHCers put symbol magnets and stickers on things like refrigerators and microwaves. This is simply a more formal way to go about it and for a good cause.

LOL, I'm the other way around -- I was always glad we don't use the rose, because so many other groups do. I much prefer using a flower that few other GLOs use.

I think ties are a prime way for guys to wear colors, and I've seen some great purple and red ties.

Alpha Chi Omega isn't the only GLO to use the lyre.
That's one symbol of ours that I'm really persnickity about -- I really like some lyre designs and really don't like some others. But I do like the lyre as a symbol. Ditto the triangle.

And I'm a sucker for anything red and black (with or without gold).

Ahem...Those colors would be Red and BLUE for Ole Miss. I use to know the Pantones but that changes with each Chancellor. Onto even more Ole Miss trivia, originally our colors were the Crimson of Harvard and the Blue of Yale Red and Black, as if. I mean we're NOT Georgia...hehehe (I kid, I kid)

I think it was the 1980s when I first noticed people sporting the playboy bunny and then it being associated with Kappa. I think my memory is correct. I always hated it. It's an unnecessary and stupid reference.

I read years ago where playboy was either suing or called for a cease and desist on the use of the playboy bunny in reference to Kappa. Kappa started telling members to stop getting things with the logo and burn the things they already have. LOL. The good thing is that was never an official animal or symbol.

I got a gorgeous diamond key necklace for my 21st birthday. I loved wearing it and still do, but one time I was asked by an alumna of my school if i was a Kappa. After that I felt kinda weird about it, but keys are so huge right now I'm over it.

Maybe I will throw my kd lavaliere on there with it to avoid confusion

Green isn't my favorite but I love it and like it more than some other orgs. I LOVE the nautilus shell, and whenever I see it I have to purchase it. It is the only symbol we have that is really ours, and I think its adorable (teddy bears and roses belong to many a sorority)

Let's just say my father didn't give 17 year old me one choice of where I went to college, which was the hometown University. I also didn't get to pick my major, other than which program that the School of Business offered. I hated the school, hated the athletics program, hated my major, and hated being there. The only redeeming thing was AOII and Greek Life. Lesson learned as our two in college currently both chose their schools after a slew of college visits, live on campus at their respective schools and are both doing very well in their majors of their own choices.

Oh, did I mention I was and am a life-long fan of the University of Kentucky?

That's a shame. I have controlling parents too, but at least they let up a little! UK had AOII, too, so either way you could have been a sister.

I have always liked red, so I'm happy that Garnet is one of my colors. Gold on the other hand is a bit trickier to use, especially with the Garnet. If you aren't careful you get McDonalds. Also while I really like what the owl symbolizes, it is hard to find owl stuff that isn't either creepy or feminine.

Now that I think more about it.... I think I was more drawn to Theta for their symbols. I just could NOT picture myself wearing some of the other colors that were represented, nor could I see myself collecting the symbols or mascots. The black and gold, the kite and twins stars.... they drew me in!

Which sorority are you a member of? I'm trying to think which org has a mascot that can be considered creepy -- other than us, of course. (And that's not quite true either -- the Mystic Cat has never been an official mascot.)

Green is my favorite color, so I've always been happy about that. Green and white are also the colors of my high school and middle school, and since I played multiple sports during both, my closet is now full of green and white clothing. I like that the colors go well together and are easy to wear.

I will admit that the katydid is a little weird. I do love the nautilus shell and dagger, but like others have said, I've always been a little jealous that they're not easy to find like many other symbols are. I like the teddy bear for use as a big/little gift, but I'm not likely to buy a teddy bear anything besides that. And while I do find white roses to be lovely and appreciate that they are easy to find, I've always admired the unique flowers that other orgs have chosen.

For some reason I can't get a Gammy Bug picture posted, but I'm happy it is no longer the official mascot.

Of course, that means we don't have a mascot. I can live with that.

Yes, there it is! I liked Gammy back in the day, but I know it looked outdated, plus with time I've come to decide I don't like a bug as a mascot (no offense to KDs!).

(Disclaimer: IrishLake is a bug nerd.)
Awww, I think bug mascots are adorable! If I had to choose between a black cat (like some Theta chapters recognize as an unofficial mascot) and a bumblebee, I'd pick the black and yellow bumblebee hands down! My Little gave me a stuffed bee that she stitched "Bee a Theta" on it's wings. I willed it down, but I loved it!
