Anyone else not really head over heels with their GLO's colors/symbols?

Don't get me wrong--as an initiated member (now alumna), I love and respect the symbolism and significance of my sorority's letters, badge, symbols, colors, etc., but honestly, on an aesthetic level, our colors and main public symbol just aren't my cup of tea, and I have trouble finding things with our symbol that I also like on a visual/non-symbolic level. I remember kind of being turned off by our colors and symbols during my COB open house, actually, although thankfully, I didn't let such superficial thing keep me away from what turned out to be a truly wonderful sisterhood.

Anyone else feel the same way?

No.

I'm speaking for myself. I don't know what others think. Dumbass.

I wish that we had a cute symbol that popped up often, like a crescent or a key or something like that. I do get jealous of some of the more common symbols.

That's how I always felt about that.

I wasn't a huge skull person (associated it with punk rock and such) until I joined and found out the meaning. Now I love them. Same with nautical/boat themed things. Was never into them until I joined, now I love them and look out for boat stuff when I'm out shopping.

The average person probably doesn't grow up thinking "I love keys/arrows/etc!" but it BECOMES special to you as you learn what it symbolizes for your particular org.

I have had NPHC members tell me that before. I understand, but it is not easy to wear red and purple together, even if you add gold!

So yes, I do sometimes wish that we had colors that we could wear all together, but I'm fine with what I have. It's not like the colors ever turned me away or anything and I happily wear each color individually. :D

I actually find this interesting because on one side you shouldn't join an org because they have pretty colors, but on the other side you aren't a fan of the colors, but love the mission of the org.

Or for some actually have the ability to wear their colors.

Pink and green isn't my favorite color combination.
Nor is the turtle my favorite animal.
Roses and diamonds are my favorite though.

I think it's kind of fun to talk about. Doesn't affect my love for my org anyway.

Then bang-up job quoting a question that says, "does anyone..." before your reply.

I quite like our symbol as it is portrayed on our badge (in a stylized/symbolic way) and in smaller doses, like on a charm bracelet or necklace, and I love it in terms of its meaning to me as a member, but I don't think it will be my favorite decoration aesthetically. I do love the look of our letters, however, and love having them around (as well as loving their meaning, of course). I also love, love, love our flower.

Even though our colors aren't my favorite combo, it seems weird or almost disrespectful to see official stuff in other colors, as they do, as others have pointed out, have meaning to us.

So when you respond you're speaking for everyone too?

You're being dumb.

As an active I was NOT thrilled with brown and mode. Love the symbolism - but dressing in brown and beige during the 80s? Not so much. Luckily, they've grown on me, and it does help that brown became popular - it's great accented with pink, and I love the fact that our colours are ours alone.

I like the symbols, but the colors are really hard to combine, and as they don't really suit my complexion I tend to stick to the symbols.

i am happy with ours.
