Is there a contact person for the alum group? You might be able to find a phone number or e-mail for a person who is responsible for this specific aspect of the group's activities, or you might be able to find the contact info for any officer. A politely worded e-mail or a friendly phone call simply to ask for confirmation will not come across as rude or annoying. Communication is a good thing!
