Christian Bale to me took the character to a different level. He is no more a better Batman or Bruce Wayne than Michael Keaton, but he plays the psychology better.

Have to disagree. I know I'm in the minority, but I never believed Michael Keaton as Batman. Bruce Wayne, yes. Batman, no way. (Then again, I didn't really like the Tim Burton ideal of Batman.)
Christian Bale was perfect, IMHO.
