That topic again?
NPCs are often called "historically white sororities" in the same manner that NPHC sororities are often called "historically Black sororities."
Some people will like it and others will not.

It's not the same manner....the NPHC are and choose to identify themselves that way. Not so with NPC.
Besides, I expect this kind of stuff coming from you, but not from her. NPCers should be trying NOT to identify this way.

Choice or chance, still "historically white sororities."

So the NPC are not historically white? Just trying to understand why this is such an issue. For example, I personally don't like being called a "Black Greek" but I know that some people say this and mean it as short for "member of a Black Greek Letter Organization" or even "Black member of a Greek Letter Organization." Either way, even though I don't like it, I can't change the fact that it's true.

Just because it's historically accurate, doesn't make it an appropriate label, ESPECIALLY for a member to use. Many of y'all would throw fits if someone referred to an African American as a Historically Enslaved Person, even though it's historically accurate.

Dumb attempt at an analogy but there are instances where African Americans are called historically enslaved populations; and in some literature sentences sometimes begin with "historically enslaved populations."

No.
I've never been enslaved, so that term would be inappropriate.
The majority of the NIC and NPC organizations are predominately AND historically white, though.

To AlphaFrog's credit, Dubai's post was random and her reference to historically white sororities was true but she could've said "NPC" for the topic. At the same time, we could be typing about apples and orange juice and NPHC orgs would still often be called "historically Black sororities and fraternities" and most people would not care either way.

I know what she was trying to say. "African Americans" could be historically enslaved. "knight_shadow" cannot.

WOW. You "tried" to go there all because you don't want your org to be called historically white? Really? You might want to explore why. I'm serious.

Yes, I think that's it as well. It hit me after I posted. We are proud to be historically Black orgs because of our history. Either way, I don't think it's something to get mad over but then I'm not in a non-historically Black org to say.
