Naomi, all kidding aside, you have some serious research to do. If you are already in college, start by looking at your school's Greek website. If you are still in high school, you might check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nationa...llenic_Council for a little info on the traditionally black sororities, http://www.npcwomen.org/ for the traditionally white sororities, or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultura...and_sororities for a mixed bag of other, including Asian, Hispanic, Gay & Lesbian, etc.
And then there's the service and professional fraternities...

This is why people started the jokes right away. Your question was far and away too vague. The jackets, as far as I know, are just the NPHC sororities, but if you're asking about sororities, I'd think you mean the historically white sororities, because that's my reality. When you have a smidge more information, come back and then maybe we can help you, but remember, all of these are secret societies so there is a lot of stuff we can't/won't divulge or explain.

This is a very very very strange statement.

Really? We can't just call them NPCs?

Her question wasn't vague at all -- context shouts NPHC, or at least non-NPC sororities.

The problem isn't that the question was vague. The problem was that she has a lot more important things to be researching than what the numbers on line jackets mean. And the other problem is that, based on what NPHCers have said over and over, this isn't the place to be doing that research. That's why the jokes started.

We are not secret societies. Why do we keep saying this?
