You need to get out the house more.

Anyway, bigotry doesn't move me either way. I was just co-signing about that website. Racism doesn't require bigotry so I hope prejudice and racial niceties are not what your racism-o-meter (also known as the "Are we there yet?"-o-meter) is based on. I also hope it isn't based on Obama and "some of my bestfriends are Black."

I'm not racist, my cat is black.

I'm not sure I get the Obama reference. Do you mean the train of thought that racism is dead because we have a black president, or you just don't agree with/like Obama cuz he's black? Nope, I don't subscribe to either.

This. You said you thought we were beyond "this" by now and I don't know why you would think that. Despite how well people have learned to hide their racial and ethnic prejudices, they still express them in more anonymous settings or settings where they feel they are around likeminded others.

I meant in an evolutionary way. I believe its our animal instincts that bring out racism and bigotry, it's because we humans are tribal.

Like the Miike Snow song "Animal"

I change shapes just to hide in this place but I'm still, I'm still an animal
Nobody knows it but me when I slip yeah I slip
I'm still an animal

I disagree 100% with all of this. Tribal is not synonymous with (animal) instinct. "Tribes" are still human constructions and even animals (many of which also have tribal groups and hierarchies) have constructions that are arguably nurture as much as (or even more than) nature. Animals are taught, as are we.

Back to the lightened darkies in this thread, though.

Are you kidding me? No, I didn't look at the site, but I'm not surprised. I hate it when some people blame an entire race for their own problems.

Late back into this thread, but what's been going on in Arizona and Texas should clearly show the opposite of the US being beyond anything right now.

it's like the real nuts are coming out of the closet en masse.

I chuckle when people think just because the US has a black president racism automatically goes away...

Or is it a response to the nut in the White House?

Maybe the "real nuts" already were out and more responded to the call. (that's what she said)
