Wacky Senior Pranks!
The porn during morning announcments thread got me thinking back to what my class did in high school (a lame fun fair on the front lawn, something the graduating class does every single year....ok, we also had a guy in a trench with nothing else on but boxer shorts running around too). Several years before that, a guys' school sent letters to parents and alumni telling them that they were going co-ed. Naturally, most alum were ticked. Don't know what exactly happened to the guys that did it, but I imagine that they did apologize to the alumni since I've seen their class composite. What did your class do?

Well, there's this upscale school in the Northern Chicago suburbs and the Junior and Senior Girls get together for this football game...

During Spirit Week, all the seniors parked their cars sideways, took up two spots, etc in Senior lot. Since all the crazy parking didn't allow all the seniors to park in Senior lot, we took over Junior lot, therefore leaving the Juniors with no where to park. Well midday we got a msg over the intercom from the principle saying that the seniors were causing a fire hazard in the parking lot so we all had to go out and move our cars.
And speaking of porn over the intercom, in homeroom, before the announcements are read, music is played. Porn music always seemed to make it's way over the intercom. (And it was a catholic school...)

It wasn't my senior year, but someone brought a large iguana into the all school assembly (which we had everyday). My senior year a bunch of guys got into the trophy cabinet and put lots of porn material in it. The prank I always wanted to do was to fill the foyer with small Dixie cups of Kool-Aid, so anyone who wanted to walk across the floor would have to pick them all up individually and pour them out.
Also, until the year after I left, all the freshman had to wear blue and gold beanies to class for a month until homecoming. The seniors gave you a big brother and sister, and then would ask you to do sill things during lunch. My freshman year this senior Doug got me and a group of other freshman together to sing "You rock me all night long" by ACDC to the whole school at assembly. Lots of fun!

I can't believe that I've forgotten what my HS Senior Class class did. I'll have to remind myself to ask some of my friends that I graduated with if they remember.
During the '96-'97 school year, we had over 40 bomb threats called in. There were sometimes even 3 in one day. Every time, we would sit outside a few feet away from the school building and just hang out for about an hour until the bomb squad came in and checked everything out. Teachers began to revolve their lesson plans around the threats to make sure that they would be able to teach the lesson outside. As sad as it sounds, we loved them because many of the teachers wouldn't bother to teach during the threats so these bomb threats became our social hour. The school board was close to making us stay a week longer at the end of the school year to make up the time missed because of the threats.
It was rumored that the Senior Class of '97 was behind the pranks but none of the Seniors wanted to verify the rumor since the people making the threats could have done jail time.
If it was a prank, it was probably one of the worst we've had in our school's history. Students, faculty, and the police department started to downplay the bomb threats and not be serious about them. After a while, the bomb squad stopped doing complete checks. Rumors were circulating that someone really did intend to plant a real bomb which is scary because it easily could have been done considering people stopped taking the threats seriously.

Someone let out chickens in the bridge that connects the main building with what used to be the tech high school (my hs covers 5 city blocks). It caused quite a commotion because we had around 3,000 kids and most of the people used the bridge to get to classes in between buildings, so there was always a back up. Add to that chickens (and I really want to know where those chickens came from, b/c we are in a city) and the fact that some people never saw a chicken before... yeah, i don't think anyone made it to their next class.

I may regret asking..but what is "porn music"??? I can't imagine!
At Vanderbilt, some students published a newspaper annoucing that the Chancelor was dead. It looked JUST like the normal student paper. Students were upset everywhere. Some faculty reportedly canceled classes and had moments of silence until the Chancellor proclaimed that he was alive.

There is an April Fools edition of our campus newspaper that goes out ever year. People always forget, and they never do it exactly on April 1st, so the edition gets people riled up. The best headline was "Dean Dismembers Stanford Band". The band had been on probation that year, and it was actually something that could have happened. The article detailed how the band had to donate their instruments to charity, etc. I was pissed until I figured out that it was the April Fools Daily. The year before that they published "15 Freshman accidently accepted", and listed 15 names in big font. What a riot!

my high school was crazy with pranks!! my class (which i helped out with) was cheezy. we used a bridge to enter our high school on the second floor so we wouldn't have to cross a busy highway in nyc. so we got a kiddie poll and load of sand and coconuts and made a beach on part of the bridge.
in the past they have released chickens, painted a wall all the goths, pothead and druggies hang out on pink, another year they covered the same wall with porn.
the best one i heard of though was in the 80's in our old school building some seniors apparently built a brick wall blocking the principal's door!!
if you want to hear crazy pranks though MIT has nutty ones. I am sure AEPhiAlum knows about them, they are infamous.

I don't know if any of y'all saw that Highschool Stories show on MTV that they played some last year ( I think that's what it's called). Anyway, one aired mid Spring 2003 about some guys who filled the school with bees and superglued the locks to the doors. They filmed a whole show about the prank and the guys. Yeah, that was my highschool and my senior class
ETA: I am "in" the show actually, they showed the yearbook pages of the guys they interviewed and I am next in the alphabet to one of the guys so they showed my picture too.

They are indeed... there's an area of the MIT Museum dedicated to hacks. Check this out: http://hacks.mit.edu/Hacks/ There's a whole set of rules - two of the biggest are "do no permanent damage" and "don't get caught"
My high school was lame, though. The only thing we did was bring a giant beach ball to graduation and toss it around. That was edited out of the broadcast on the public access channel...

About twenty of us girls got together after honor's night. Some of these girls were high profile in the city too... the mayor's daughter, a councilwoman's daughter, our saludatorian, top students. People that no one would ever guess.
First we teepeed with 75 rolls of toilet paper. Then we had mustard, ketchup, mayonaise, birdseed... we threw it wherever we could. Then we got bored so we drove around the city in 3 cars. We found an old toilet, and a sandbox boat which was great since our prom was on a boat that year. We wrote "The Diamond Belle" on it. Then all of us got together and took a picture with it. When we were all leaving, a cop car pulled out from the baseball field and I was the one who got pulled over. They laughed at us and apparently were watching the whole thing. Oh and while we were doin stuff the senior guys came and egged some of the girl's cars.
The next day at senior assembly we got yelled at pretty bad by our police liason officer. Some of the girls were crying but I laughed because I knew if we got caught we'd have to pay the price. So we ended up getting suspended. We were all gona have a barbeque that day but it rained. The funny ending to the story is that someone out of the group, we duno who, sent the picture we took to our principal and wrote "Gone but not forgotten". I guess he had it in his office for at least a year after.
The class of 1997 did the STUPIDEST thing ever and almost went to jail for it. They spray painted the gym and wrote really bad stuff about a few of the teachers. I disliked these teacher's too, but that's just cruel. The 1998 class roller bladed through the school and were supposed to camp out on the football field but since the football coach was equivalent to the one on Varsity Blues, no one was touching that grass.

Well, back in the dark ages, we put a big For Sale sign in front of the school; carried the vice principal's VW up the front steps of the bldg and left it there. One class let a greased pig loose in the hall, and we couldn't top that.
Yeah, sounds pretty spare now, doesn't it.
