What about people kill insects and small frogs and lizards rather than letting them out of the house or bypassing them? You can swat a fly or you can hug it and let it outside like a monk does.

Hmmmmm....how do you hug a fly?
Come on, guys. There is a big difference between dragging a dog by a rope from a moving truck and killing an insect that gets inside your house. Stick to that, if possible.

We don't have to stick to anything. What you consider a big difference doesn't have to translate to everyone else.

Okay, so apparently I was not successful in my attempt to make a joke. Sorry. It was really just a joke.
Anyway, I was just asking what people think of abuse of animals. Epchick made a great point that people forget about other animals that are not domesticated. Thank you, Epchick for pointing that out. That is very true.
Please everyone keep going. This is a very good discussion. It really opens my eyes to the things other people brought up. I didn't really even think about cutting pig ears off while they are alive. That is true.
One thing that grosses me out, while we are on the topic, is lobster. Maybe I am ignorant, but would throwing them into a pot of boiling water after they are dead make them taste different or something? Why can't they be killed before being thrown into that pot? I was thinking that when I watched Jersey Shore the other night.

Because dead lobster spoils very quickly. It generally isn't safe to eat lobster that was dead before it was cooked.

Oh...Wow. Thanks for clearing that up. I never understood that. I still think it sucks!

Says you.
Flies and geckos serve a purpose. If I don't kill them, should I condemn you for killing them?
