I feel like Pennsylvania's concealed/carry permits are a little too lax in general. No offense to you because I'm sure you're a responsible gun owner but... I know a lot of people who had one and probably should not have.

I agree, and Virginia's is almost identical.
I will fight to my dying breath for the Second Amendment, but I'm also all about taking a course on gun safety first. I took one offered by the NRA - actually, my whole family did - and literally half of the course is how to avoid getting into gunfire. You also needed a 75% on the rifle range to pass.
ETA: And thanks for considering me safe. I'm one of those safety freaks who will lock my gun in my locked car when guests are over.

I do support the second amendment, but I believe there needs to be more standardized gun control laws across the country. Also honeychile, you don't have a gun safe? I would think that would be the safest thing you could do.

No, when I'm at home, it's ready for use. Most people who break into a house won't wait while you prepare your gun to fire. However, there are no children or such in the house unless they're visiting.

A lot of cops I know have one on their nightstand. It only takes a second to get into and it is a secure location for it. Then again I also live in a state where it is near impossible to get a carry permit.

I live in a city where it's illegal to own a handgun period.
I'm not going to lie - I'm all for better gun control but I'm seriously against handgun bans.
