15 people shot at gym in Pittsburgh!
4 people dead, plus the gunman who offed himself. LA Fitness in Bridgeville, PA, where I live. I was just at this shopping center last night- I worked there in high school, and I shop there frequently. The chance of me knowing someone who was shot is frighteningly high.
No link on a national news story yet that I've found, though it is on the cnn homepage- but it just links to the local news sites. http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/...52/detail.html |
OMG - if I hear anything about this I'll keep you updated. This reminds me of that Baumhammers shooting.

But yeah, it is weird to see my little corner of the world as breaking news on all of the major national news websites. Praying for everyone who was harmed. I'll be up late watching the coverage, that's for sure. |
How awful! I don't understand why people do these things. Prayers go out to everyone involved and I hope none of your friends/loved ones are involved.

OMG. My sorority sister lives in the area and is a member of this gym, but happened to skip her workout today. Crazy.

I read an article that said the police had found a note in the shooter's duffle bag, but the article didn't say what the note said. In fact, it even sounded like the note might not have been written by the shooter. Perhaps he'd gotten a Dear John letter from a woman who was attending that particular exercise class. Does the local news have more info than this morning's national news? |
A few of my best friends from my chapter are from Pittsburgh. Luckily they're all OK. One belongs to this particular gym and was there earlier in the night- she left about an hour before the gunman came. Scary stuff.
The articles I read this morning brought tears to my eyes. The worst part for me was reading that he shot the gym instructor who had announced to her class that day that she was pregnant. My old roommate and one of my sisters sent me his blog.. it was disgusting to read. I just hope the gunman is burning in hell right now. |

What I want to know is if his blog was public (which I'm assuming it was) then why didn't anyone do anything? He said that he brought loaded guns to the gym, that he chickened out, etc. Why did no one who may have come across this say...hmm-maybe i oughta mention this to his local police department? He was obviously suicidal.
He really was messed up, he kept complaining about women and his dating life saying that he wasn't "too weird or too ugly". Obviously he wasn't "too ugly", but he was weirder than he though he was. |
I looked at his website before it was taken down, and apparently he was raised in some sort of fundamentalist church - they appear to be very big on the verse quoting on their homepage, and all I could think of was David Koresh.

My heart goes out to the Pittsburgh people - it's really scary when this kind of stuff happens in your area.

"He said he hadn't had sex in 20 years."
That's how Inside Edition introduced this story just now. Anything to grab our attention. |

Holy crap, thank God the woman's baby wasn't harmed! I never understand things like this. To be in that much pain that you just want to take out everyone around you...I somewhat feel bad for him (though I feel way more anger than pity). I hope everyone's friend and fam in that area are all right!
